Theft by deception
BELLEFONTE -- A Bellefonte woman reported to state police at Rockview that someone used her identity to open an unemployment claim in the state of Kentucky. The incident occurred at 9 a.m. on Jan. 31.
Car strikes embankment
BELLEFONTE -- Jasmine N. Hunt, 21, of Julian, was the driver of a 2010 Honda Civic that left Route 220 in Union Township and struck an embankment, a fence and a mailbox before coming to stop against another embankment in a field, according to state police at Rockview.
The accident occurred at 2:19 p.m. on Feb. 22.
Police said neither Hunt, nor a passenger in her car, a 1-year-old female, were injured. The car suffered major damage and was towed from the scene.
Three-vehicle crash
JACKSONVILLE -- Three drivers escaped injuries in a three-vehicle crash on the Jacksonville Road in Marion Township at 7:50 a.m. on Feb. 23, according to state police at Rockview.
According to police, Mark A. Watson, 47, of St. Albans, W.Va., was southbound and struck a pickup truck operated by Colten R. Darby, 22, of Beech Creek.
Meanwhile, a vehicle operated by Nichole L. Schlegel of Howard was northbound and came into contact with debris on the roadway, police said.
Watson will be cited for following too closely, police said.
Harassment/physical contact
SPRING MILLS -- Destiny Marie Vanada, 19, of Spring Mills, has been charged with harassment/physical contact following an incident on Penns Valley Road at 8:35 a.m. on Feb. 22.
State police at Rockview said the defendant, with intent to harass, annoy or alarm another person, namely Penny Smith, did strike, shove, kick or otherwise the subject to physical contact or did attempt or threaten to do the same and the defendant did strike the victim in the face.
Drug possession
BELLEFONTE -- State police at Rockview found drugs during a routine traffic stop on Feb. 13.
According to police, a 42-year-old Bellefonte woman was pulled over in a 1996 Honda Accord for a routine traffic stop along Coleville Road. She was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Charges were filed through magisterial district justice 49-3-02.
Fraudulent check
REBERSBURG -- A case of theft is being investigated by state police at Rockview on Feb. 16.
According to police, Michael Acker, 23, of Suffolk, Va., purchased two bulldog puppies with a fraudulent check in the amount of $6,000. The victim of the crime of Christ Esh, 25, of Rebersburg. Acker is a suspect in similar thefts across several states.
The incident was reported at 11:35 p.m. The investigation continues.
Money stolen
LINDEN -- A case of theft by deception is being investigated by state police at Montoursville.
Police say that around 6 p.m. on Feb. 8, a 63-year-old man and a 64-year-old woman from Linden, Pa., reported that $1,400 had been stolen from their bank account by a person who claimed to work for eBay. Bank information was given over the phone.
