Sobriety checkpoint
LOCK HAVEN -- State police at Lamar announced they will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint during the Fourth of July holiday in Clinton County.
The checkpoint will be targeting a high DUI-related crash area, according to compiled statistical data. It is being conducted to reduce the number of alcohol and drug-related crashes.
State police would like to remind motorists of the "Duty of a Driver in Emergency Response Areas" law, which tells drivers they shall move over to an open lane and/or reduce speed when they see police stopped along the highway with their emergency lights activated.
Car crashes into tree
LOCK HAVEN -- A one-vehicle accident was investigated by state police at Lamar on June 19.
According to police, a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox being driven by Kasey L. Meyer, 28, of Lamar was traveling south along the Coudersport Pike when she failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The Equinox traveled across the center line, left the roadway and struck a tree head on. Meyer and a passenger, Makayla Sementelli, 22, of Mill Hall, were not hurt in the crash.
The crash took place at 8:35 p.m.
One-vehicle crash
MILL HALL -- A one-vehicle crash was investigated by state police at Lamar on June 21.
According to police, a 2008 Nissan Sentra being driven by Brandon Cool, 24, of Sutton, W. Va., was traveling west along Renovo Road in Grugan Township, Clinton County, when he swerved to miss a vehicle that had traveled into his lane. The Sentra left the roadway and struck a utility pole, police said.
The Sentra sustained disabling damage in the crash and had to be towed from the scene by Johnson's Towing. The crash took place at 6:47 a.m.
Kettle stolen
LINDEN -- A case of theft was investigated by state police at Montoursville on June 20.
According to police, a large copper butcher kettle was stolen from a private residence along Turkey Path Road in Anthony Township, Lycoming County.
The kettle was owned by a 68-year-old Linden man and a 57-year-old Linden woman. Police say the theft took place sometime between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. on June 20.
Disorderly conduct
HOWARD -- A case of disorderly conduct was investigated by state police at Rockview on June 15.
According to police, a 17-year-old Howard man and a 49-year-old Howard man were involved in an incident along East Main Street in Howard Township, Centre County.
The incident took place a little after 8 p.m., police said.
Theft by deception
JERSEY SHORE -- A case of theft by deception was investigated by state police at Montoursville on March 29.
According to police, someone filed a fraudulent unemployment claim in the name of a 40-year-old Jersey Shore man. The incident took place along Park Road around 11 a.m., police said.
The investigation is ongoing.
Hit-and-run crash
WILLIAMSPORT -- A hit-and-run crash was investigated by state police at Montoursville on June 18.
According to police, a Ford Ecoline E450 being driven by April Marshall, 41, of Jersey Shore entered the intersection of Washington Boulvard and River Avenue in Loyalsock Township, Lycoming County. The Ecoline was struck by an unknown vehicle. The vehicle did not stop and continued in an unknown direction. Marshall pulled her Ecoline into a nearby parking lot.
The crash took place around 2:19 p.m.
One-vehicle accident
LAMAR -- State police at Lamar were called to the scene of a one-vehicle accident on June 22.
According to police, Jasmine Fields, 30, of State College was traveling westbound along Interstate 80 in Porter Township, Clinton County when she fell asleep at the wheel. Her 2015 Chevrolet Trax struck a guide rail before leaving the roadway. Fields was not hurt in the accident, but she was cited for her role in the crash.
The crash took place around 3:15 a.m., police said.
