PSP releases more info on fatal crash
LOGANTON — More details have emerged from Monday’s deadly crash along Interstate 80 on Monday night.
State Police at Lamar released a 15-page report on the crash, which took place at 6:57 p.m. The I-80 crash claimed the life of Mirzod Ayubov, 55, of Brooklyn, N.Y. He was a passenger in one of the vehicles involved.
According to the report, unit 1, a 2017 Volvo tractor trailer rear-ended unit 2, a 2019 Freightliner Cascadia. The Freightliner had slowed down for a construction backlog. That collision resulted in a multi-vehicle accident. Also involved were unit 3, a 2015 a TX45 van, unit 4, a 2015 Kenworth T680 and unit 5, a 2020 Freightliner Cascadia.
Ayubov sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Clinton County coroner Zach Hanna. The driver of unit 1, Mirazim Ayubov, 29, also of Brooklyn, N.Y., sustained serious injuries, police said.
There were injuries to the operator and passengers in unit 3.
According to police, the investigation is ongoing.
