Fatal farming accident
ROTE -- An 18-month-old child was run over by a loaded grain wagon at 4:33 p.m. on April 5 in the 700 block of East End Mountain Road in Lamar Township, according to Mill Hall Police. Despite all the efforts of emergency service personnel, the child succumbed to injuries, police said.
The investigation revealed that the child's family member was backing up a loaded feed wagon using a skidloader to push the wagon backward, police said. The machine operator did not see the child behind the rear wheel of the wagon, resulting in the child being struck, police said.
The incident was deemed accidental.
Aggravated assault by vehicle
ROTE -- Preston Lee Bierly, of Lamar, was taken into custody on April 7 based on a warrant on charges of a felony count of aggravated assault by vehicle and summary offenses stemming from a crash that occurred on Fairground Road in Lamar Township on Aug. 12, 2022, according to Mill Hall Police.
The investigation revealed that Bierly was operating a 2007 Jeep Wrangler when he crossed over the center line, striking a man on a non-motorized scooter in the opposite lane, causing serious bodily injury, police said.
The victim was flown to a trauma center for treatment, police said.
Criminal theft attempt
LOCKPORT -- On April 10, two individuals, one male and one female in their late 30s to 40s, were observed searching through mailboxes while in a dark blue Toyota Highlander, according to Woodward Township Police.
Criminal trespass
LOCKPORT -- Between April 3 and April 10, an unknown suspect(s) entered onto the property at 25 Park Drive and damaged a storage shed while attempting to enter it, according to Woodward Township Police.
Drug possession
BELLEFONTE -- State police at Rockview found controlled substances in a 2019 Honda Pilot during a vehicle search at 766 Interstate 99 North in Benner Township on April 6.
The suspect, an 18-year-old Port Matilda man, was released from the scene with pending charges, police said.
Harassment
SNOW SHOE -- A 37-year-old Unionville man was arrested for harassment, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness after an incident that took place on April 8 at the Rebelz Gentleman's Club along Spruce Road in Snow Shoe Township, according to state police at Rockview.
