Crash

CASTANEA -- Brittany Beal, 18, of Somerset, lost control of her 2005 Chrystler PT Cruiser, causing her to crash into a guide rail along state Route 220 North in Castanea Township, according to state police at Lamar.

The crash took place at 5:25 p.m. on April 28 when Beal was negotiating a left-hand curve in the roadway where she lost control due to hydroplaning, police said. Her vehicle made initial impact with the guide rail at its 10 o'clock position, proceeding to slide down the guide rail where minor damage was sustained to the driver's side, police said.

The vehicle came to a stop about 30 yards from the initial impact. Beal was not injured from the crash and her vehicle was unable to driven from the scene due to damage to it's tire, police said. The vehicle was towed from the scene by Tressler's Towing.

Catalytic converter theft

CASTANEA -- Between April 15 and April 26, multiple catalytic converters were stolen from a 40-year-old woman, of Howard, a 32-year-old man, of Mill Hall, and a 50-year-old man, of Mill Hall, at The Collision Center at 229 South Hanna St. in Castanea Township, according to state police at Lamar. The involved vehicles were a 2012 Honda Pilot, a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban and 2006 Nissan Titan, police said.

Retail theft of Pokemon cards

MILL HALL -- A 38-year-old, of Lock Haven, was charged with retail theft after stealing two boxes of Pokemon cards, worth $54.98 each, from the Mill Hall Walmart at the intersection of Country Club Lane and Mill Hall Road on April 29, according to state police at Lamar.

The arrestee was caught placing the boxes of cards in her purse. After concealing them, she passed through the self checkout registers, passing all points of sale, police said.

When confronted by loss prevention, the arrestee failed to cooperate and fled the store, police said. Walmart was deprived of a total of $109.96.

In an attempt to "catch them all," the arrestee committed retail theft and related charges have been filed through District Judge John Maggs' office, police said.

Crash with injuries

RAUCHTOWN -- Michael Dicandilo, 74, of Jersey Shore, sustained minor injuries after striking his 2023 Hyundai Tucson into a culvert at 2400 Rauchtown Road in Crawford Township on April 29, according to state police at Lamar.

Dicandilo was traveling north on the road when he fell asleep at the wheel of his vehicle, causing him to travel off the west side of the roadway and struck the culvert, police said.

Disabling damage was caused to the 11 o'clock position and undercarriage of his vehicle, police said.

He reported having minor injuries from the crash and his vehicle was towed by Showcase Towing, police said.

Horse and buggy crash

with injury

ROTE -- A two-vehicle crash took place along Nittany Valley Drive in Lamar Township when Thomas Coukart, Jr., 61, of Portage, attempted to pass a horse and buggy in a 2015 Chrystler 200 on April 23, causing the buggy to flip on it's side, according to state police at Lamar.

Coukart's vehicle sustained disabling damage to it's 2 o'clock position and the buggy, driven by Alvin Zook, 27, of Beech Creek, sustained disabling damage, police said.

The horse pulling the buggy sustained minor injury to it's rear leg and no other injuries were reported from the crash, police said.

Theft by deception

BELLEFONTE -- A total of $11,500 was scammed out of a 77-year-old man, of State College, along Rock Forge Road in Benner Township on April 26, according to state police at Rockview.

An unknown suspect hacked the victim's computer, scamming them out of the money, police said.

Police is investigating.

DUI-crash and

drug possession

JACKSONVILLE -- Tevin Singh, 24, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was arrested for driving under the influence after crashing his 2004 Lexus ES330 at 2943 Jacksonville Road in Marion Township on April 17, according to state police at Rockview. Drugs were also seized from the arrestee, police said.

Retail theft

HOWARD -- A 14-year-old male juvenile, of Howard, was charged with retail theft after he stole a case of beer from the Snappy's at 203 Mill St., Milesburg on April 30, according to state police at Rockview.

Theft of funds

HOWARD -- A total of $1,093.76 was withdrawn from a bank account owned by a 50-year-old woman, of Milesburg, at 300 Center St., Milesburg Borough on April 19, according to state police at Rockview.

Crash

SNOW SHOE -- Perry Shelton, 63, of Inkster, Mich., was charged with a summary violation after crashing into a guide rail along Interstate 80 in Snow Shoe Township on April 27, according to state police at Rockview.

Shelton veered over the fog line along the south side of the roadway, crashing into the guide rail at the 1 o'clock position. He continued traveling eastbound after the initial impact, resulting in heavy damage to approximately 130 feet of the guide rail, police said.

No injuries were sustained from the crash and Shelton's vehicle was towed from the scene for disabling damage, police said.
