Motorcycle crash with injury
CASTANEA -- A motorcyclist sustained minor injuries following a crash along Route 220 in Castanea Township on May 18, state police at Rockview said.
Steven Rivera, 29, of Mill Hall was traveling on the roadway when he failed to negotiate a left curve and struck several rocks in the road, police said.
The rocks caused his motorcycle to slide out from under him, where it then "body surfed" until it struck a guide rail, police said.
The motorcycle continued across both lanes of traffic and came to a stop on the left side of the berm, police said.
Rivera sustained minor injuries from the crash. The motorcycle was towed from the scene by Martin Motors.
Harassment
CASTANEA -- Carl Smith and Kathy Smith were cited for harassment stemming from a domestic dispute that turned physical at 9:56 p.m. on May 15.
After an investigation, it was determined both individuals had hit and pushed one another, causing minor injuries to each other, police said.
Crash
MILL HALL -- Scott Dodson, 18, of Lock Haven, crashed his 2007 Hummer into a tree while trying to avoid a deer in the roadway of Shade Hollow Road in Bald Eagle Township, according to state police at Lamar.
At 4:16 p.m. on May 18, Dodson swerved his vehicle in order to avoid striking a deer, causing him to hit a tree on the west side of the road, police said. The crash caused the rear end of the vehicle to spin and face north, police said.
Both Dodson and his passenger, Shey Temons, 18, of Lock Haven, were able to free themselves through the rear window of the vehicle, police said. Neither were injured.
The vehicle sustained disabling damage to its 11 o'clock position.
DUI-related crash
MILL HALL -- Matthew Ringham, 42, of Beech Creek, sustained injuries after striking a utility pole during a DUI-related crash along North Water Street in Mill Hall Borough, according to state police at Lamar.
At 4:37 a.m. on May 20, Ringham failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Beech Creek Avenue and North Water Street, where he struck the pole, police said.
Ringham left the scene of the accident on foot and later returned. He was arrested for DUI, was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash and sustained minor injuries, police said.
Theft of disability funds
LAMAR -- About $360 in disability payments were stolen from a social security/disability account belonging to a 59-year-old Lamar man on May 19, state police at Lamar reported.
Theft by deception
LAMAR -- A 23-year-old Lamar woman was notified that $520 was stolen during an attempt to buy Taylor Swift tickets through an online service on May 12, according to state police at Lamar.
Police are investigating the incident.
Stolen vehicle
NORTH BEND -- Wayne Hackenberg, 18, of Renovo, was arrested for stealing a 2019 Toyota Corolla from a 66-year-old Williamsport man along Bucktail Avenue in Chapman Township on May 15, according to state police at Lamar. The vehicle was recovered and returned to the owner.
Hackenberg was charged with receiving stolen property and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle through District Judge Frank Mills.
