LOCK HAVEN -- State police at Lamar have charged Tara Lalonde, 50, of Lock Haven, with kidnapping after concealing a runaway 17-year-old girl at her residence along Logan Street in Lock Haven between May 1 and 2.
The girl ran away from a residence along Sturdevant Street in Flemington Borough on May 1, police said.
Multiple agencies assisted in canvasing the area for the missing juvenile, police said. After about 13 hours, she was located, hiding at a friend's residence in Castanea Township, police said.
Lalonde was interviewed on May 2 at her residence where she claimed to have no idea where the juvenile may be, police said. It was later found that, shortly after, Lalonde transported the juvenile to a different location, in Castanea, in an attempt to obstruct law enforcement in locating her, police said.
Lalonde was taken into custody on May 2 and was transported to the Clinton County Correctional Facility.
Charges for kidnapping, interference with the custody of children and concealment of whereabouts of a child were filed through District Judge John Maggs' office,
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
