Vehicle malfunction causes crash
ROTE -- Robert Hearn, 66, of Madisonburg, crashed a 2000 Saturn Sedan into two PennDOT signs after losing control of the vehicle due to a malfunction along Nittany Valley Drive in Lamar Township, according to state police at Lamar.
At 10:52 a.m. on Sept. 16, Hearn lost control of the vehicle when the front passenger control arm of the vehicle broke, police said. He was unable to maintain control as it traveled off the north side of the highway, striking two PennDOT signs and then a bush, police said.
The vehicle came to a stop after striking the bush. No injuries were reported.
Crash
McELHATTAN -- Stephanie Burke, 19, of Jersey Shore, lost control of her 2007 Chevrolet Malibu after hydroplaning and crashed off Pine Mountain Road in Wayne Township, according to state police at Lamar.
On Sept. 17, Burke was attempting to negotiate a right hand curve in the roadway when the vehicle allegedly hydroplaned, causing her to travel off the roadway, police said. She then struck boulders at the vehicle's 11 o'clock position, causing minor damage, police said.
No injuries were sustained from the crash and the vehicle was towed from the scene by Showcase Towing.
DUI
MILL HALL --A 32-year-old, of Wayne Township, was arrested for driving under the influence, after allegedly calling 911 to report she was having a verbal argument with her ex-husband in Mill Hall, according to state police at Lamar.
Prior to police arrival on Sept. 17, the woman had left the residence and drove to Parsons Drive in Mill Hall where she was located. She was found in the driver’s seat of her running vehicle and found to be under the influence, police said.
The investigation is ongoing.
