DA: Investigation into inappropriate conduct at CMMS ongoing
MILL HALL — The investigation into alleged misconduct by staff at Central Mountain Middle School is ongoing.
“The criminal investigation remains ongoing by Mill Hall Borough Police in coordination with the DA’s office,” District Attorney Dave Strouse told The Express. “I have no additional updates for the public at this time.”
The DA’s office and borough police have been investigating a report of alleged inappropriate contact between a student at CMMS and adult female staff members.
Strouse initially released a statement regarding the allegations and investigation in early November.
“This contact has not been alleged to have occurred on school property or during schools hours,” the initial release via Crimewatch said.
“Law enforcement has been informed that all staff members associated with the investigation, except one individual who is no longer with the district, have been placed on leave by Keystone Central School District,” the release further stated.
Further comment will be made upon the conclusion of the investigation.
Please note that the above release is a statement on the status of an active investigation and in no way should be interpreted as a conclusion of guilt. All individuals alleged, suspected or charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a Court of Law, the release stated.
Soon after the release was published, district Superintendent Dr. Jacquelyn Martin released a statement on behalf of the district. She noted it would be the only statement the district would make.
“The Clinton County District Attorney’s Office in its statement of Nov. 9, 2023 informed the public of an investigation of inappropriate conduct by KCSD staff. It is important that you know that the School District has, at all times, acted swiftly and decisively to protect the health, welfare and safety of all of its students, faculty and staff and will continue to do so in accordance with Pennsylvania law,” the statement reads. “The Keystone Central School District has cooperated, and will continue to cooperate, with the law enforcement investigation. Due to the nature of the ongoing criminal investigation, the School District will not provide any further comment or information on the matter.”
