The Lock Haven Fire Department is continuing an investigation into the cause of a fire that let off thick smoke along Bellefonte Avenue near Triangle Park on Monday night. According to Fire Chief Tyler Wooding, the department was called to 20 Bellefonte Ave. at about 9 p.m. When units arrived on the scene, Wooding said "thick black smoke" was coming from the first floor. "Crews searched for any occupants that may have been trapped in the apartments above the fire, but everyone had made it out safely," Wooding said. The fire was under control in a few minutes and crews were able to overhaul the building to make sure the fire didn't spread and conduct an investigation. "The investigation into the cause is still ongoing," Wooding said. No injuries were reported and LHFD were assisted on the scene by Lock Haven EMS with medical support, Flemington Goodwill Hose providing traffic control and Citizens Hose of Jersey Shore providing Rapid Intervention services.
