LH Fire Department responds to basement fire

On Wednesday, Dec. 4, at midnight, the Lock Haven Fire Department was dispatched for a reported odor of smoke in the Hill Section of the city. Units arrived on scene to find a smoke condition in the basement at 26 S. Fairview St. with fire spreading to the first floor in a wall void. According to reports from Fire Chief Tyler Wooding, the box assignment was upgraded to a working dwelling fire which was quickly extinguished. Crews were on scene for approximately an hour. All occupants and their pets were able to safely evacuate. Damage to the structure is estimated at $8,000. The cause of the fire was faulty wiring, Wooding reported.
