Vehicle crashed into graveyard
LOGANTON — The driver of a 2020 Lexus was not injured following an accident along Old Hill Road, Logan Township, on Dec. 4, state police at Lamar said.
Nan Zhang, 29, of Staten Island, N.Y., was traveling north on the roadway and failed to stop at its intersection with West Valley Road due to snowy conditions, police said.
Zhang’s vehicle went through the intersection, striking a fire hydrant, metal fence and tombstone before coming to rest in a graveyard, police said.
The vehicle received minor damage to its 5 and 12 o’clock positions and was able to be driven from the scene, police said.
One-vehicle crash
LAMAR — The driver of a 2017 Nissan was traveling too fast for road conditions on Dec. 5, leading to a one vehicle crash along Nittany Valley Drive, Porter Township, state police at Lamar said.
At about 9:07 p.m., Anthony R. Leek, 22, of New Cumberland, Pa., was traveling north on the roadway when he lost control of his vehicle and left the roadway, police said.
Leek’s vehicle entered a field and traveled about 100 yards before crossing Heltman Road and striking an embankment and then a tree, police said.
Leek was not injured but was cited for not driving a vehicle at safe speed, police said.
Multi-vehicle crash
LOGANTON — No one was injured in a multi-vehicle crash involving four tractor trailers and one passenger vehicle along Interstate 80 West in Greene Township at 7:34 p.m. on Dec. 4, state police at Lamar said.
Due to a large accident further west on the roadway, a 2020 Volvo tractor trailer, driven by Samuel R. Selby, 33, of Naples, Fla., and a 2024 Peterbilt tractor trailer, driven by Garrett E. Woods, 74, of Joplin, Mo., stopped along the roadway, police said.
A 2015 Ram 1500, driven by Jonathan A. Thomas, 52, of Brooks, Maine, was coming to a stop between the two trucks when it was rear ended by a 2023 Kenworth tractor trailer, driven by Claude P. Lambey, 56, of Austin, Texas, police said.
A fifth vehicle, a 2025 Freightliner, driven by Aboul Faradj L. Kangbeni, 61, of Fredericksburg, Va., struck Woods’ vehicle due to a lack of a passable route, police said.
No injuries were reported from the crash and towing was provided by Bressler’s Garage.
Trailer disconnects
LAMAR — No injuries were reported in a one vehicle accident when a trailer disconnected from a vehicle along Nittany Valley Drive in Lamar Township on Dec. 5, state police at Lamar said.
At 9:34 a.m., Ruth E. Long, 77, of Centre Hall, was traveling south on the roadway near its intersection with Kyle Lane when, due to environmental factors/high winds and a possible load shift, the utility trailer behind her 2002 Ford F-150XLT disconnected, police said.
The trailer sustained disabling damage, spilling equipment into a roadside field, police said.
A private tow was arranged for the removal of the trailer and equipment, police said.
Retail theft
MILL HALL — A 40-year-old Renovo woman was charged with retail theft after an incident at Walmart along Hogan Boulevard, Bald Eagle Township, on Nov. 26, state police at Lamar said.
Police were called to the store at 6:46 p.m. where Alyse Dremel reportedly took $282.43 worth of items past the point of sale without paying.
DUI alleged
AVIS — A 45-year-old State College woman was taken into custody under suspicion of driving under the influence along state Route 220 South, Pine Creek Township, on Nov. 23, state police at Lamar said.
The woman was stopped at 1:02 a.m. due to multiple vehicle infractions when it was believed she was driving under the influence, police said.
The driver was taken into custody and possible charges are pending results of a blood draw, police said.
DUI controlled substance
LOCK HAVEN — An 18-year-old Renovo man was taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance following a traffic stop in Lock Haven, state police at Lamar said.
The traffic stop occurred along North Vesper Street on Nov. 30 at 6:35 p.m., police said.
Hit and run
MILL HALL — One driver fled the scene following a two vehicle accident along Eagle Valley Road near its intersection with North Water Street, Bald Eagle Township, on Nov. 27, state police at Lamar said.
At about 7:11 p.m., Dylan J. Beach, 24, of Mill Hall, was traveling south on the roadway when he braked his 2017 Ford Mustang due to a red light ahead and a vehicle stopped in front of him, police said.
A vehicle traveling behind Beach rear ended his Mustang before fleeing the scene without exchanging information, police said.
The vehicle was reportedly described as a blue Ford or Dodge pickup truck, police said.
Beach’s vehicle sustained minor cosmetic damage as a result of the crash and no injuries were reported, police said.
Harassment
AVIS — Two individuals were cited for harassment after state police at Lamar were called to an active domestic incident on Dec. 1 at 8:22 p.m. along Mallard Lane, Pine Creek Township.
According to police, during interviews it was related that both parties — a 31-year-old Mill Hall woman and 40-year-old Mill Hall man — struck each other in the face with a closed fist, police said.
Citations were filed through District Judge Keith Kibler’s office.
Harassment
LAMAR — Two people were cited for harassment following a physical altercation along Locust Street in Porter Township on Nov. 30, state police at Lamar.
According to police, the physical altercation took place at about 8:36 p.m. and involved a 60-year-old Lamar man and 34-year-old Lamar woman.
Citations were filed through District Judge Heidi Wright’s office.
Two-vehicle crash
MILL HALL — No one was injured and one vehicle suffered disabling damage following a crash at the intersection of Eagle Valley and Laurel Run roads, Bald Eagle Township, on Dec. 1, state police at Lamar said.
At 5:47 p.m., Abrahan J. Cardoza Lopez, 20, of Waynesburg, Pa., was traveling south on Eagle Valley Road when he failed to see a 2014 Subaru Forester, driven by Emily M. Wendle, 19, of Altoona, was stopped while waiting for another vehicle to make a left turn onto Laurel Run Road, police said.
Cardoza Lopez was unable to come to a complete stop, causing his 1997 Toyota Corolla to strike Wendle’s vehicle, police said.
Both vehicles were able to pull off of Eagle Valley Road and parked along Laurel Run Road, police said.
Cardoza Lopez’s vehicle suffered disabling damage and was towed from the scene by Martin Motors, police said.
Wendle suffered a possible injury and was seen by Goodwill Hose EMS but refused transport, police said.
Cardoza Lopez was cited for following too closely as a result of the crash, police said.
Disorderly conduct
LOGANTON — A 40-year-old Matthews, N.C., man was cited for disorderly conduct after creating offensive conditions when he disrobed and ran around in public in the area of Interstate 80, mile marker 1920 in Greene Township, state police at Lamar said.
Aleksey Mammadov was charged through District Judge Heidi Wright’s office following the incident, which took place on Nov. 28 at 8:28 a.m., police said.
Terroristic threats
RENOVO — A 53-year-old Renovo man was cited for terroristic threats after an incident that occurred along Third Street in Renovo Borough on Nov. 8, state police at Lamar said.
At 9:45 p.m., Francis Lowry is accused of pointing a .380 handgun at an 18-year-old man and making threats, police said.
Charges were filed through District Judge Frank Mills office, police said.
DUI crash
RENOVO — State police at Lamar believe driving under the influence may have led to a one-vehicle crash along Tamarack Road in Noyes Township on Nov. 24.
At 8:15 p.m. Nicole M. Woomer, 31, of Renovo, was traveling the roadway in a 2015 Ford F-150XLT when it left the surface of the roadway, struck a utility pole, traveled down an embankment and came to rest in the creek bed off the left side of the roadway, police said.
Woomer was transported by Renovo EMS to UPMC Williamsport for suspected moderate injuries, police said.
Indicators of driving under the influence of alcohol were observed at the scene and is the leading suspected cause of the crash, police said.
An investigation into the crash is continuing, police said.
Police were assisted on the scene by PennDOT, Renovo Borough Fire Department, PPL Electric and Bressler’s Towing.
