Fugitive capture

LOCK HAVEN — Larry E. Halterman, 59, of Lock Haven, was jailed after being apprehended on two 10-year-old outstanding criminal warrants out of Centre County, after a traffic violation stop, according to the Woodward Township Police Department.

On Dec. 7, shortly before 2 p.m., Halterman was allegedly found to be driving an unregistered, uninsured vehicle and found to have a revoked and suspended license since 1998, police said.

Halterman is classified as an habitual offender due to several prior DUI convictions.

According to police, Halterman was committed to the Clinton County Correctional Facility for his outstanding warrants. He has been charged with new offenses for misdemeanor habitual offenders, driving under DUI related suspension/revocation and driving an unregistered vehicle.

The owner of the vehicle will receive a citation for permitting the vehicle to be driven without insurance, unregistered and by a suspended driver, police said.

Multi-vehicle crash

GROVE PARK — On Dec. 12, shortly after 10 a.m., a multi-vehicle crash occurred on Interstate-99 in Benner Township after a dense fog caused severely limited visibility, according to state police at Rockview.

Multiple vehicles struck one another and caused the roadway to be shut down for approximately two hours, police said.

According to the officers, some minor injuries were reported.

State police were assisted by S&R Towing, Rees Towing, Grays Halfmoon Valley Towing, Logan Fire Company, Undine Fire Company, Alpha Fire Company, Bellefonte EMS and Centre Life Link.

Harassment

MILESBURG — Barry Lee Chronister, 60, of Milesburg, was cited for harassment for physical contact after police responded to an inactive domestic dispute on Market Street in Milesburg at 10 a.m. on Dec. 6, according to state police at Rockview.

Fatal Fire

UNIONVILLE — Patricia A. Langham, 78, of Unionville, was killed in a residential fire on Apple Street in Unionville Borough on Dec. 5 at approximately 12:26 p.m, according to state police at Rockview.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.

Theft

MILESBURG — $33 in cash was stolen from a 45-year-old Milesburg woman on North Eagle Valley Drive in Boggs Township on Dec. 2, according to state police at Rockview.

Criminal mischief

HOWARD — A 57-year-old Howard man had his vehicle’s mirror, valued at $50, and tail light, valued at $25, damaged on Short Lane in Liberty Township on Dec. 2, according to state police at Rockview.

Assault with weapon

SPRING MILLS — A 15-year-old boy from Spring Mills has been charged with assault after a domestic violence incident on Long View Lane involving a 41-year-old man, also of Spring Mills, on Nov. 13, according to state police at Rockview.

Hit and run

JACKSONVILLE — An unknown driver allegedly rear-ended a 67-year-old Mill Hall man while traveling eastbound on Interstate-80 on Nov. 27 before fleeing the scene without identifying themself or exchanging insurance information, according to state police at Rockview.

The victim’s 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer sustained minor damage and the driver sustained no injuries from the incident, police said.

It is unknown if the other vehicle operator sustained any injuries or damage to their vehicle because a canvas of the area yielded no results, police said.

Hit and run

MILESBURG — On Nov. 21, a truck driver using the Travel America rest stop in Boggs Township allegedly fled the scene after striking a 2017 Freightliner Cascadia while trying to exit a nearby parking stall, according to state police at Rockview.

Unable to clear the cap of the truck, the 2025 Volvo allegedly struck the front driver’s side of the Freightliner, police said.

The driver exited the vehicle and briefly spoke with the other operator before reentering his vehicle and then fleeing the scene, police said.

DUI

AVIS — State police at Lamar initiated a traffic stop at approximately 9:07 p.m. on Dec. 6, 2024 in the 2300 block of Woodward Avenue in Pine Creek Township due to multiple traffic violations.

Police said upon investigation it was determined the operator, an unnamed 55 year-old male of Williamsport, was under the influence of alcoholic beverages.

Chemical testing was consented and charges are pending lab results, police said.
