State police say they have suspect in fatal shooting of dog in Pa. county

WESTPORT — State police say they have identified a suspect in the fatal shooting of a dog reported missing in rural northwestern Clinton County.

Troopers at Lamar said a 33-year-old Westport man reported last Monday his 11-year-old yellow Labrador retriever never returned after they left it about 5:30 a.m. that day.

The owner, when looking for the dog, went onto a neighboring property where police said blood, dog hair and other biological matter of the animal was found.

Search warrants were executed Tuesday in Clinton and Dauphin counties and they said the dog was found dead about 150 yards from where it had been killed. It had been shot in the neck, they said.

Police did not say why search warrants were issued in Dauphin County or provide the location of where the dog was shot.

Starting at $3.69/week.
