LOGAN MILLS — Just before 1 p.m. on Friday afternoon, the Sugar Valley Fire Company, the Goodwill Hose Company and the Pennsylvania State Police responded to the scene of an accident involving a vehicle and an Amish buggy in the area of West Valley Road and Mountainside Acres, near Logan Mills.

Scanner reports indicated one patient laying in the middle of the roadway and unresponsive, however, upon the arrival of emergency units, the patient was found to be responsive.

Lifeflight was initially requested for standby due to the nature of the call, but then canceled after the situation was accessed by first responders, and the patient was transported to an area hospital by ambulance.

The horse succumbed to its injuries at the scene.
