Fire Chief: Family not injured in late night fire on West Bald Eagle Street
ASHTON PETERS/FOR THE EXPRESS Fire crews are pictured at a structure fire along West Bald Eagle Street on Wednesday night.
A family living at a home along the 100 Block of West Bald Eagle Street were able to safely get out of their home when flames broke out late Wednesday night in Lock Haven. According to Lock Haven Fire Chief Tyler Wooding, crews were called to 107 W. Bald Eagle St. at about 9 p.m. on Feb. 12 for reports of a fire.
“Units arrived on scene to find a heavy volume of fire at the rear of the building. A second alarm was struck which brought assistance from Avis, Flemington, Castanea, Dunnstown, and Jersey Shore,” Wooding told The Express. “Crews operated on scene for approximately three hours before returning to quarters.”
Wooding said the cause of the fire was determined to be discarded ash near the rear deck area which caught the deck on fire and spread to the interior of the structure.
The family was home at the time of the fire but was able to safely exit without injury.
Wooding said the property loss is estimated at $140,000.
