Man ingests bag of meth while fleeing from police

MILL HALL — A 30-year-old Mill Hall man was taken to a hospital to have a small bag of drugs removed from his abdomen following a chase that began with a domestic dispute, state police at Lamar said.

At 1:26 p.m. on Jan. 11, police were called to Hogan Boulevard, Mill Hall for reports of an active physical domestic, police said.

While enroute, the man left the scene and, seven minutes later, officers located the man in a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse, police said.

While attempting to initiate a traffic stop, the man rear ended another vehicle and fled on foot from the scene, police said. Minor injuries were reported in the second vehicle.

After a brief foot chase with the man, officers were able to apprehend him, police said.

The man admitted to police that, while driving, he orally ingested a bag containing 0.6 grams of methamphetamine in order to conceal its discovery from law enforcement, police said.

He was taken to the hospital where medical professionals removed the contraband from his abdomen, police said.

It was also discovered the man was under the influence of methamphetamine, which he’d used recreationally earlier in the day, police said.

Charges for fleeing and eluding officers, driving under the influence, resisting arrest, tampering with evidence, reckless endangerment, possession of a controlled substance and other similar charges and traffic offenses were filed through District Judge Heidi Wright’s office, police said.

Starting at $3.69/week.
