Pa. man wounded by state police is in jail; Reason for the shooting in Greene Township remains undisclosed

LOCK HAVEN — The Williamsport man state police wounded following a May 24 pursuit in parts of two counties has been jailed in lieu of $200,000 bail.

Jordan Joseph Lantz, 36, was arraigned Tuesday, but information on what led to him being shot on Interstate 80 near Loganton still has not been disclosed.

A state police news release the day following the shooting stated force options were required at the end of the pursuit that resulted in the unnamed driver being shot in the leg and taken to Geisinger Medical Center.

There was no response Wednesday to emails to state police media contacts. The investigating trooper said policy prevented him from commenting.

The arrest affidavit in support of the charges, which is void of any mention of a shooting, states:

Trooper Navid Abhaisingh was doing radar speed checks on southbound Route 15 near Joe Road in White Deer Township in Union County about 8:10 p.m. when he timed a Ford F-150 doing 83 in a 55 zone.

The driver failed to stop, and pursuit ensued west over the White Deer Pike and onto Interstate 80 at the Jersey Shore interchange. Speeds on I-80 exceeded 100 miles an hour.

Troopers deployed stop sticks, and it is unclear from the affidavit if the truck went over them, but it states it then passed on the right shoulder a tow truck pulling a disabled recreational vehicle.

The pickup sideswiped the heavy-duty wrecker and the disabled RV, after which Cpl. Steve Dunkle conducted a precision immobilization technique (PIT) to disable Lantz’s vehicle in Greene Twp. in eastern Clinton County.

Lantz is charged with aggravated assault by vehicle, fleeing an officer, driving at an unsafe speed, driving while license suspended, recklessly endangering another person and reckless and careless driving.

His license was suspended because of a driving under the influence conviction, state police say.

Starting at $3.69/week.
