LOCK HAVEN -- Fire crews were called to 13 Linden St., Lock Haven on the Fourth of July holiday for a structure fire, which caused an estimated $40,000 in damage.
According to City Fire Chief Tyler Wooding, crews were alerted to the fire at about 8:49 p.m. on Friday.
When crews arrived on scene, they found fire and smoke showing from the second floor of the single-family dwelling.
A second alarm was struck and additional firefighters from Dunnstown, Avis and Jersey Shore were called to assist in battling the blaze.
Wooding said an adult man had jumped from the second floor window before fire and EMS arrived on the scene. He was treated on the scene by Lock Haven EMS and transported to UPMC Lock Haven with minor injuries.
"Initially, it was reported that an occupant was still trapped inside the home but searches by firefighters confirmed that no one else was in the home," Wooding said.
The fire was under control by 9:07 p.m. with an extensive overhaul taking place to prevent rekindling, Wooding said.
At 10:33 p.m., overhaul was complete and fire crews began to return to service.
Wooding said by 1 a.m. an investigation was completed but a cause of the fire was not able to be determined.
Damage to the property was estimated at $40,000 with a neighboring property sustaining about $8,000 in damage due to radiant heat, Wooding said.
