Firearm possession
BLANCHARD -- On June 6, at 9:37 p.m., a disturbance was reported to state police at Rockview in the 2300 block of Monument Orviston Road, Liberty Township.
Following an investigation, one individual was arrested on multiple charges, including illegal possession of a firearm.
Domestic harassment
AARONSBURG -- On May 24, shortly after 1:30 a.m., state police responded to a domestic violence incident on Blue Spring Lane in Haines Township.
Barry Moore, 33, of Aaronsburg, was arrested for simple harassment, according to state police at Rockview.
Sobriety checkpoint results
BELLEFONTE -- A sobriety checkpoint conducted by state police at Rockview on the night of June 7 lasted approximately five hours.
During the checkpoint, police stopped 177 vehicles, resulting in one DUI arrest, two drug-related arrests, 10 traffic citations and 72 warnings.
PSP Rockview said additional sobriety checkpoints will be held in the future and reminded the public not to drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Hydroplaning causes
two-car crash
SPRING MILLS -- Hayden Whitehill, 18, of Spring Township, was charged with driving at an unsafe speed after hydroplaning and causing a crash on June 6 in Potter Township, according to state police at Rockview.
The crash occurred at 1:01 p.m. on South Pennsylvania Avenue, north of Earlystown Road, during heavy rain. Police said Whitehill was driving a 1996 Ford pickup too fast for the conditions when he lost control, fishtailing into the oncoming lane and striking a 2014 Subaru Impreza driven by Kathy Criswell, 68, of Lewistown.
Whitehill was uninjured, and his passenger sustained what were believed to be minor injuries but declined medical transport. Criswell and her passenger, Michael Criswell, 74, were transported to Geisinger Lewistown with suspected minor injuries, according to police.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Failure to report accident
PLEASANT GAP -- On June 7, around 1 a.m., Joshua Flanagan, 22, of Lock Haven, was traveling southbound on Interstate 99 in Spring Township when he exited the roadway, crossed the median and struck the rear side of the guardrail in the left lane of I-99 south with his 2019 Toyota Camry, according to state police at Rockview.
Flanagan's Camry sustained disabling damage, and he fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle, police said.
Authorities said Flanagan failed to report the crash to police, emergency services or PennDOT regarding the damaged guardrail.
Flanagan was charged with failure to notify police of an accident.
No injuries were reported.
Harassment
SPRING MILLS -- On June 9, shortly before 9 p.m., state police at Rockview responded to a report of harassment on The Meadows Drive in Potter Township.
Three teenage boys -- a 14-year-old from Scranton, a 15-year-old from Johnstown and a 13-year-old from Lake Ariel -- were charged with harassment after allegedly harassing a 17-year-old boy from Gettysburg, police said.
Fly rod theft
COBURN -- On June 9 at 5:35 p.m., a 46-year-old woman from Imperial, Pa., reported the theft of a fly rod to state police at Rockview.
The woman told police her Sage ESN five-weight fly rod, valued at $995, was taken from the top of her vehicle while parked on Main Street in Penn Township.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
Man scammed out
of over $8,000
SNOW SHOE -- In May, a 79-year-old man living on Bumbarger Road in Snow Shoe Township was scammed out of $8,066, according to state police at Rockview.
Police said an unknown actor told the man he had won $950,000 but needed to pay taxes on the prize before receiving it. After sending the money, the man never received the promised winnings.
