Three injured, one seriously,
in hydroplaning accident
MILESBURG — A 47-year-old Butler man was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center by Bellefonte EMS with suspected serious injuries following a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 East caused by hydroplaning, according to state police at Rockview.
Police said the driver, Michelle Froilan, 45, of Butler, lost control of a 2023 Chevrolet Suburban due to wet road conditions. The vehicle struck an embankment and overturned onto its passenger side.
Froilan and a 17-year-old male passenger were able to exit the vehicle, but the front-seat passenger had to be extricated by the Milesburg and Bellefonte fire departments.
Froilan and the teen were transported by Bellefonte EMS to Mount Nittany Medical Center for treatment of suspected injuries, police said.
Three charged with DUI
LYCOMING COUNTY — Nicholas S. Signor, 26, of Jersey Shore, was charged with DUI following a crash along Route 220 South and Quenshuckney Road.
Police said the crash happened May 22, 2025.
Joshua Keith Morehart, 35, of Lock Haven, was charged with DUI on Dec. 31, 2024, following a stop in the 1600 block of Randall Circle in Loyalsock Township, police said.
Frederick John Grunsby, 55, of Jersey Shore, was stopped along I-80 West in Loyalsock Township on May 24, 2025 and subsequently charged with DUI, police said.
Theft of services
LOCK HAVEN — A 38-year-old woman was charged with theft of service and unauthorized use of automobiles after an incident on July 8, Lock Haven City Police said.
According to police, at about 4 p.m., Felicia Woods was found to be driving a U-Haul van that hadn’t been returned per her contract, police said.
Woods had amassed an invoice with U-Haul for $13,109.58, police said.
Minor injuries
MILL HALL — State police were called to the 4-way traffic intersection at Millbrook Plaza in Bald Eagle Township on June 19 around 1:09 p.m. for a two vehicle accident in the intersection.
According to police, Elizabeth Sylvanio, 29, of Linden, was driving a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox and stopped at a stop sign in the parking lot of the Millbrook Plaza shopping center, and then proceeded to the four-way intersection without safe or proper clearance when a 2015 Chevrolet Sonic being driven by Cheryl Marzzacco, 68, of Lock Haven, approached the intersection from another angle, not having a stop sign.
Police said that Sylvanio’s vehicle pulled out directly in front of Marzzacco, who had no time to stop or avoid the collision.
Police said that Marzzacco suffered minor injuries in the accident. Sylvanio was not cited for the collision since it occurred in a parking lot.
Suspended license
HOWARD — State police at Rockview were called to North Eagle Valley Road at its intersection with Schenck’s Grove Road in Howard Township on June 29 at approximately 3:45 p.m. for the report of a two vehicle accident.
According to police, Amanda Jerles, 51, of Lock Haven, was traveling North on SR 150 in a 2015 Nissan Sentra when a 2016 Toyota Camry was stopped at a stop sign attempting to turn left from Main Park Road onto the southbound lane of SR 150.
The unnamed driver of the Toyota, a 17-year-old male from State College, turned left without proper clearance and was struck by the Jerles vehicle. The unnamed driver was not injured but was cited for not observing the duties at a stop sign.
Police said that Jerles suffered minor injuries in the accident and was transported by the Beech Creek-Blanchard ambulance to Jersey Shore Hospital. She was cited for driving on a suspended or revoked license.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Vehicle flips
BELLEFONTE — State police at Rockview investigated a vehicle crash on July 7 at 8:35 a.m. that happened on I-80 E at mile marker 159.
According to police, Jane D’Antoni, 38, of Ridgewood, N.J., abruptly turned from the roadway into the construction zone emergency pulloff area at a high rate of speed and drove into a ditch.
Police said that D’Antoni’s 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage then flipped end over end at least two times before it came to rest on its driver’s side. The Mirage sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene by Rich’s Amoco.
Police said that D’Antoni suffered minor injuries and was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center by Bellefonte EMS.
Police said that the operator will be cited for her role in the accident.
Assisting at the scene were fire departments from Milesburg and Bellefonte.
Disorderly conduct
BELLEFONTE — State police at Rockview investigated a case of disorderly conduct on 1-80 E in Marion Township on July 16.
Police arrested Todd Kane, 47, of Plymouth, Pa., for his role in the incident.
