Michael Adam Meyer, 28, pleaded guilty Tuesday in U.S. Middle District Court to a charge of receipt of child pornography.
The charge carries a five-year mandatory minimum prison sentence, but the prosecuting and defense attorneys said a term in the 10-year range is more likely.
Found in a Jan. 6, 2025, search of Meyer’s residence in Loganton were 1,550 images and 1,582 videos of child pornography, Assistant U.S. Attorney Robyn E. Zenzinger said.
An FBI investigation revealed Meyer had received child pornographic material for three years beginning in November 2021, she said. She did not reveal when the breakup with his girlfriend occurred.
Meyer is also facing related charges of child sexual abuse and criminal use of a communications device in Clinton County. Jury selection is scheduled on Nov. 7.
The abuse counts allege he possessed a video of a prepubescent female engaged in a sex act with an animal and photographs of a partially nude female under the age of 17.
Those charges state Meyer told state police he used Bitcoin to purchase child pornography files through the Telegram application.
He remains detained pending sentencing in the federal case.
