Centre County Coroner IDs victims in Christmas Day crash

HOWARD– The Centre County Coroner’s Office has identified the three people who died in a Christmas Day vehicle accident in Howard.

The victims were identified as Diana Lyons, 37, Richard Harriot, 33, and a 10-year-old boy, all of Lock Haven. The coroner stated the cause of death was blunt force trauma.

The crash occurred on North Eagle Valley Road, Route 150, near Swartz Hollow Road in Howard Township, on Dec. 25, at approximately 2:26 p.m.

Two surviving passengers in the Pontiac were flown from the scene with life threatening injuries but there has been no additional information released as a follow-up.

No further information regarding the crash has been released by PSP Rockview.

In response to the crash, KCSD Superintendent Dr. Francis Redmon issued a statement on the loss of one of the district’s students and his parents. His sister, also a KCSD student, has sustained life threatening injuries and remains in critical care.

“Our hearts are broken for this family,” said Redmon. “On behalf of the Keystone Central School District, we extend our deepest condolences to everyone grieving this unimaginable loss. We also hold the surviving family members in our thoughts and prayers, hoping for strength and healing in the days ahead.”

“This tragedy has deeply affected our entire school community, students, staff and families alike,” the district said in a statement to the public. “In times such as these, we are reminded of the importance of compassion, connection and care for one another.”

The school district will have grief counselors available to meet with students once they return to school on Jan. 5, 2026.
