City crews respond to structure fire near Salvation Army

ASHTON PETERS/FOR THE EXPRESS Members of the Lock Haven Fire Department responded to a structure fire in a commercial building behind 119 E. Church St. over the weekend.

LOCK HAVEN — The Lock Haven Fire Department responded to a reported commercial structure fire Saturday evening in the City of Lock Haven.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to the rear of The Salvation Army, 119 E. Church St., for a possible structure fire.

Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke conditions coming from a two-story commercial building located behind the Salvation Army building.

Fire officials confirmed there was no damage to the Salvation Army itself.

Crews were quick to deploy handlines and began fire suppression operations, while others worked to secure utilities, open up the structure and provide Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) services.

A second water supply was also established to support firefighting efforts.

Lock Haven EMS provided firefighter rehabilitation and medical support services during the incident.

All occupants were confirmed out of the building prior to firefighting operations. Crews were able to contain the fire to the first floor of the structure.

No injuries were reported. Firefighters operated on scene for approximately two hours before returning to quarters.
