Vehicle strikes guide rail

AVIS -- No injuries were reported in a one-vehicle crash along state Route 220 on April 26, state police at Lamar said.

At 6:16 p.m., Sulayman Wells, 47, of Williamsport, was traveling north when he failed to negotiate a left curve in the roadway and struck a wire guide rail with his 2013 Ford F-150XLT, police said.

The front left tire of Wells's vehicle became stuck in the wire as it traveled along the left shoulder before coming to a stop near mile marker 120, police said.

Wells's vehicle suffered disabling damage and was towed from the scene by Clear Choice Towing, police said.

Minor injuries

BEECH CREEK -- Minor injuries were reported in a crash along Laurel Run Road in Beech Creek Township on May 16, state police at Lamar said.

At 1:01 a.m., Jason M. Smith, 44, of Beech Creek, was traveling east on the roadway when he swerved to miss a deer in the roadway, police said.

The maneuver caused Smith's 2019 Dodge Durango to exit the road on the left side, striking a culvert and mailbox before overturning, police said.

Smith was evaluated by Goodwill Hose Co. Ambulance, police said.

Police were assisted on the scene by Beech Creek/Blanchard Fire Department and Bressler's Towing.

Window damaged

LOGANTON -- State police at Lamar said there are currently no suspects or leads involving property damage in Greene Township.

According to police, a 66-year-old Mill Hall man reported someone damaged a window at his property along Overdorf Lane between May 19 and May 21.

The cabin is located in a remote location of the township, police said.

Vehicle swerves to avoid dog in roadway

LOCK HAVEN -- The driver of a 2015 Jeep Renegade was involved in a crash when it swerved to miss a dog in the roadway, state police at Lamar said.

On May 26 at 8 p.m., Samantha N. Keckler, 34, of Lock Haven, was traveling east on Island Road in Dunnstable Township when the dog entered the roadway via the north berm, police said.

The vehicle avoided colliding with the dog by swerving right, but left the roadway and struck a utility pole, police said.

Keckler was transported to Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital by Jersey Shore EMS for suspected injuries, police said.

Police were assisted on the scene by Woolrich Volunteer Fire Company.

Counterfeit money reported

LAMAR -- State police at Lamar received a report of counterfeit money found at the TA Travel Center in Lamar Township on May 20.

According to police, the $100 bill was found at the end of the day during a cash register count by an employee, police said.

An investigation is underway.

Credit card theft used to purchase Apple watches

MILL HALL -- An 82-year-old Mill Hall man was the victim of a credit card theft, state police at Lamar said.

According to police, the victim's credit card was used to purchase four Apple watches, totalling $1,346.

This investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact PSP Lamar at 570-726-6000 and reference case number PA26-675677.

Inmate assault

BELLEFONTE -- An inmate at the State Correctional Institution at Benner Township allegedly threw a bag believed to contain feces and other bodily fluids at five fellow inmates on June 9.

According to state police, all five victims were male and ranged in age from 25 to 42.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Two injured in rollover crash

BLANCHARD -- Marie L. Pletcher, 90, and her passenger, Jay Pletcher, 91, both of Blanchard, sustained suspected serious injuries in an accident on the morning of June 13 after their vehicle overturned, according to state police at Rockview.

The crash occurred on N. Eagle Valley Road at its intersection with S. Kunes Street in Liberty Township. The Pletchers were in a 2020 Subaru Forester and were stopped at the stop sign on S. Kunes Street when they allegedly failed to yield to oncoming traffic while attempting to turn left onto N. Eagle Valley Road, according to police.

A 29-year-old Lock Haven woman driving a 2020 Nissan Rogue attempted to stop but struck the Subaru on the passenger side, causing it to roll onto its roof, police said.

Both Pletchers had to be extricated by non-mechanical means and were transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center for medical evaluation. The driver of the Nissan was uninjured and was assessed by EMS at the scene.

Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene, police reported.

Sobriety Checkpoint

BELLEFONTE -- A sobriety checkpoint conducted June 27 resulted in one DUI arrest and 18 traffic citations, according to state police at Rockview.

Troopers also issued 82 warnings after stopping a total of 271 vehicles.

The checkpoint was conducted from 8 p.m. June 27 until 1 a.m. June 28.

State police said additional sobriety checkpoints will be conducted in the future and reminded the public not to drive after consuming alcohol or using drugs.

Car crashes into home

HUBLERBURG -- A Mill Hall woman was charged with driving at an unsafe speed after her vehicle struck a residence during heavy rain in Walker Township on June 25, according to state police at Rockview.

Police said the crash occurred around 7 p.m. at 2761 Nittany Valley Drive when Megan M. Yocum, 36, attempted to pass another vehicle and lost control of her 2020 Honda Odyssey because of the weather conditions.

The vehicle struck a residence, causing significant damage to both the home and the vehicle.

Neither Yocum nor her 2-year-old passenger were injured.

Forged check

ZION -- A 73-year-old Mingoville man reported $4,243.70 was stolen from him after someone allegedly forged a name on a check that wasn't originally intended for them, according to state police at Rockview.

An investigation into the theft reported in Walker Township on June 24 is ongoing,

Vehicle rollover

REBERSBURG -- Caleb S. Shilling, 20, of Muncy, was charged with improper lane departure after overturning his vehicle on Rebersburg Mountain Road on June 24, according to state police at Rockview.

Shilling's 2007 Kia Spectra rolled onto its roof after failing to negotiate a turn in the road and striking an embankment, police said.

Shilling was injured and the vehicle had to be towed due to severe damage, police said.

PFA Violation

MILESBURG -- A 64-year-old Milesburg man is under investigation for a possible Protection From Abuse order violation that occurred May 29, according to state police at Rockview.

Police said the alleged violation involved a 59-year-old Bellefonte woman and occurred on Runville Road in Boggs Township.

Child welfare investigation

LOGANTON -- State police at Lamar are currently investigating a Child Welfare Report, made on June 4 in Logan Township.

Harassment charge

SOUTH RENOVO -- A teenager was charged with harassment following an incident along Pennsylvania Avenue in South Renovo Borough on June 9, state police at Lamar said.

At 7 p.m., police responded to reports of harassment between a 16-year-old Renovo male and a 16-year-old male, of South Renovo. Through the investigation it was determined the two were in a verbal argument that turned physical, police said.

The Renovo teenager was cited for harassment/physical contact as a result, police said.

Driver charged with DUI following crash

FLEMINGTON -- Robert Horning, 39, of Mill Hall, was cited for driving under the influence following a crash at the intersection of Huston and High streets in Flemington on May 24, state police at Lamar said.

According to police, the crash occurred at about 12:09 a.m. and involved two vehicles.

Through an investigation it was determined Horning was at fault due to being under the influence of alcohol, police said.

Charges were filed through District Judge Keith Kibler's office.

Scooter driver injured in accident

MILL HALL -- A 40-year-old Lock Haven man suffered minor injuries after his electric scooter crashed along Eagle Valley Road, Bald Eagle Township, on June 7, state police at Lamar said.

At 2 p.m., Stephen L. Heverly, Jr. was traveling north on the road, near its intersection with Beech Creek Avenue, when it hit loose gravel off the south of the roadway, causing it to fall over, police said.

Heverly suffered minor injuries to his right arm and was treated on-scene by Goodwill Hose EMS but declined transportation, police said.
