STATE COLLEGE -- On Aug. 21, the Ferguson Township Police Department conducted strategic traffic enforcement on Blue Course Drive.

These efforts were completed as part of the Centre County Traffic Safety Grant. This enforcement detail resulted in Ferguson Township Police Officers conducting 21 traffic stops related to speeding and aggressive driving violations. Through these efforts numerous citations were issued.

Following this detail, a regional impaired driving enforcement detail was conducted by the Ferguson Township, Patton Township, State College Borough, Penn State University and Spring Township Police departments. This detail resulted in several people being taken for a blood test under the suspicion of DUI. Arrests are pending the results of those tests.

In an ongoing effort to ensure the safety of our community, strategic details will continue this fall throughout Centre County as part of the Traffic Safety/DUI Task Force. Officers will be targeting aggressive driving and cell phone violations, as well as all impaired driving violations.
