Walnut Street honors retirees

AVIS -- On Sunday, June 12, the pastors and leadership of Walnut Street Baptist Church, Avis, recognized two members who have served faithfully in the ministry for over 20 years.

Nancy Spearing has ministered as Walnut Street Christian School's academic support resource for 22 years, touching the lives of children who needed an extra touch of love, assurance, and encouragement.

Madeline Smith has quietly served as the ministry's financial accountant, as well as a teacher, for 20 years; although she is retiring, she will continue to serve in the ministry as the Lord leads.

WSBC and the school are thankful for these two ladies who have been such influential servants of God and who have displayed a great willingness to serve as God has led, a release from the school said.
