Court 448, a project: Unity and charity

BELLEFONTE -- One of our members is from Indonesia, Angelia Moningka.
Angela received a proposal from a priest, Father Andi, in Indonesia. He lives in the village of Flores, where the people are poor and have little resources for medical attention … the greatest is the mental health situation in which people who exhibit this horrible and cruel disease of the mind are chained to boards or trees in the forest because there is no other means of help right now, first to house them properly, to administer proper meds for this illness and because of poverty … to house them away from others so that they will not harm others or themselves.
Father Andi along with several seminarians serving these people desire that these people be treated as people with souls created by God who should at least have a small hut built for them to live in.
The proposal was that Father Andi was trying to raise money to buy a truck. The truck he owned had died. This would allow Father to travel from place to place to serve these people, and to transport materials to build small huts.
Angela reached out to our CDA court. We needed more money than the court had, so we reached out to family, doors of organizations and even a car dealership. This took months of asking through emails and letters and even speaking personally. Months and months of work went into this project. Never has our court ever undertaken such a huge project as purchasing a truck which would cost $13,500 and especially for a foreign country.
We exceeded our goal and were able to give Father Andi $14,094 and he purchased a truck from a dealership in Surabaya, Indonesia.
