Fall festival

JERSEY SHORE -- Pine Creek Valley Christian Church will be hosting a Fall Festival Oct. 1 from 4 to 7 p.m.

All are welcome and encouraged to come, there will be free food, free drinks, and free games for young and old alike. The festival will be held at the Pine Creek Valley Christian Church, 26 Locomo Lane, Jersey Shore.

Bring your friends and family to enjoy hot dogs, hot chocolate, apple cider and more. And bring a chair to sit around the campfire.

Fall bazaar

RAUCHTOWN -- St. James Lutheran Church, 3242 Middle Road, Rauchtown, will hold its annual Fall Bazaar on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The general public can purchase a hot lunch, homemade soups, baked goods, holiday crafts and an assortment of items from their white elephant table.

There's something for everyone.

St. James Lutheran Church also invites you to attend their regular worship service each Sunday at 10 a.m. All are welcome. The church is located at the intersection of Middle Road and Route 880 in Rauchtown.

Rummage Sale

LINDEN -- Pine Run Bible Church is having a HUGE Rummage Sale on Oct. 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The kitchen will also be open for lunch. The church is located at 1719 Pine Run Road, Linden.

Chicken and

Biscuit Dinner

JERSEY SHORE -- Oriole United Methodist Church, 39 Main Road, Jersey Shore, will have a Chicken and Biscuit Dinner on Saturday, Oct. 1, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets are sold at the door and take-outs are available. Prices are $6.50 for adults; $4 for children 4-12; and children under age 4 can eat for free.

Prayer shawl

MILL HALL -- The Prayer Shawl Ministry announces that the 9th Annual Knit-N-Run will be held on Saturday, Oct. 1, at 10 a.m. at the church. This is a partnership between the Prayer Shawl Ministry and the Susquehanna Valley Big Twins Motorcycle Club to distribute the handmade items to area nursing homes and to the Geisinger Neo-Natal Unit in Danville. The public is invited to come to the church at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 28, to see all the items made in the previous year and to socialize with the needleworkers.

The public is also invited to come to the church on Oct. 1 to meet the Big Twins cycle riding members. Please park in the rear of the church.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry meets at Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church, 111 Main St., Mill Hall. All skill levels of needleworkers are invited to join. All denominations are welcome to come and fellowship. Yarn is funded to the Prayer Shawl Ministry by the Clinton County Community Foundation. Any questions, contact the church at 570-726-4112.

There will not be a regular meeting on Oct. 5 due to the Saturday Knit-n-Run so the next Prayer Shawl meeting will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at noon.

Pay it forward

MILL HALL -- Hosted at Cedar Heights Brethren-in-Christ Church in Mill Hall along Route 64, Pay it Forward Exchange/Giveaway has been holding a yearly event for 10 years, giving away kids' clothing, shoes, toys, books, gear and more to area families.

This year's event will be on Oct. 1. To celebrate the 10th birthday of Pay it Forward, a party is planned complete with an inflatable slide, activities, food, and, of course, the clothing and gear giveaway.

Pre-event donations of gently used kids' clothing may be dropped off at Avenue 209, the Lock Haven YMCA or Cedar Heights Brethren in Christ Church (under the carport).

St. Mark holds blessing of pets and animals

SNYDERTOWN -- St. Mark Lutheran Church in Snydertown will hold a Blessing of Pets and Animals service at 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 3. The service will be held outdoors at St. Mark's. The service is held around the time the church remembers St. Francis of Assisi, who was known for his love of animals and all of God's creation. All are invited to bring their pets to the outdoor service for a blessing. Those with dogs are asked to have their dogs on a leash.

St. Mark's will be taking a collection for Centre County PAWS during the service.

Chicken BBQ

McELHATTAN -- McElhattan United Methodist Church will be having a drive-thru chicken BBQ on Oct. 8 beginning at 11 a.m. Meal includes 1/2 chicken, baked beans, macaroni salad and pumpkin pie for dessert. Suggested donation is $12.

Bargains and Blessings

HOWARD -- Bargains and Blessings Community Closet will hold its final clothing sale of the season on Saturday, Oct. 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Faith Chapel United Methodist Church. The church is located at 551 Hunter Run Road, Howard, and the indoor sale will be held rain or shine. Enter through the side door off the lower parking lot. Bargains and Blessings is an outreach mission of Faith Chapel that serves the Blanchard, Beech Creek, Howard and surrounding areas. Gently used clothing, shoes and accessories are priced at $5 for a bag full, cash only. Sizes range from infant to 3X.
