United Women to host fun night

LOCK HAVEN -- The United Women in Faith plan a Christmas-caroling, card-signing, Christmas Trivia-playing fellowship event Thursday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m., in the big assembly room of Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St. All are invited.

Other holiday events at the church include Christmas caroling at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, and the Covenant Choir's Christmas concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11 with anthems, instrumental selections, and refreshments after the concert.

Kids, youth invited to Covenant

LOCK HAVEN -- Kids and youth in grades 4 through 12 are invited to join in a fun event next weekend at Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St. The event is open to the whole community and will incude games, snacks, a movie and more.

Soup Luncheon

BLANCHARD -- Blanchard Church of Christ will have a free soup luncheon at the church on Thursday, Dec. 1, from noon to 2 p.m.

The soup flavors are ham and bean and a steak soup. The soup is free and so is the fellowship provided by the Senior Women and Men's (SWAM) group that hosts the luncheon. Call 570-962-9973 for more info.

Movie Night

SNYDERTOWN -- St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Snydertown will have movie night at the church on Friday, Dec. 2, beginning at 6 p.m. The movie to be shown will be The Muppet Christmas Carol. Hot chocolate and popcorn will also be provided. All are welcome to come for the movie and treats.

New Year's Day Dinner

MILL HALL -- Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church, 111 Main St., Mill Hall, will hold a New Year's sauerkraut dinner on New Year's Day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. This complimentary dinner is take out only. Menu is sauerkraut, pork, hot dogs, mashed potatoes and dessert. There is no charge and everyone is welcome. Guests are asked to enter through the alley and someone will bring your dinner to you.

Christmas Eve Service

MILL HALL -- Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church, 111 Main St., Mill Hall, will hold a Christmas Eve candle light service at 7:30 p.m. Various people will share their talent, scripture will be read and the evening will end with singing Silent Night with candle light only.

Hanging of the Greens

MILL HALL -- Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church, 111 Main St., Mill Hall, will hold its Hanging of the Greens service on Dec. 4 beginning at 10:30 a.m.

The church's sanctuary will be completely bare and members will decorate it during the service, explaining each item brought forward to the altar and why they use those items. The items will then be placed in their appropriate place around the sanctuary.

The church is handicap accessible and all are welcome.

Free Santa photos

HOWARD -- Howard United Methodist Church will be hosting Santa and Mrs. Claus at the church on Saturday, Dec. 10, from 10 a.m. until noon. Parents are invited to bring their children to visit with Santa and to take photos for free! No need to stand in long lines and pay a fee for pictures with the North Pole couple when you can bring your own camera or smart phone and take photos for free.

Each child will receive a small gift from Santa during the event. For questions call 814-625-2362. The church is located at 144 W. Main St., Howard.

Candle walk

MARSH CREEK -- Marsh Creek Brethren in Christ Church is planning to "rekindle" a tradition that was started some 72 years ago at the church. Cora Buckwalter began the annual Christmas candle walk with all the young ladies of the church. If you ever participated in the candle walk services over the years then you are invited to join us for a Reproduction of a Traditional Christmas Candle Walk that will be held on Dec. 11 at 6 p.m.

Christmas Bazaar

JERSEY SHORE --St. John Lutheran Church, 229 S. Broad St., Jersey Shore, will hold its annual Christmas Bazaar on Sat., Dec. 10, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The general public is invited to attend and purchase a hot lunch, deluxe homemade cookie trays, holiday crafts, fresh Christmas evergreen centerpieces and an assortment of things (antiques and collectibles) from their white elephant table.

There will be a special arrival of "Santa" between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The bazaar is a fun event for the entire family.

St. John Lutheran Church also invites you to attend their regular worship service each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. All are welcome.

Game Night

LOCK HAVEN -- The next monthly Game Night at Great Island Presbyterian Church, 12 W. Water St., Lock Haven, will be held on Thursday, Dec. 8, from 6-8 p.m. All ages welcome. Games and cards will be available or bring your favorite to share. Game nights are held monthly on the second Thursday of the month.

Sing alongs

MILL HALL -- Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church, 111 Main St., Mill Hall, holds sing-alongs the second and fourth Fridays of each month. Each runs from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the church sanctuary and features old favorites. The public is invited. Songbooks are provided with Kay Bossert leading and Pam Blesh playing the piano.

Coffee club

FLEMINGTON -- Flemington First Church of Christ, 714 Canal St., holds Coffee Club every Thursday from 8:30 to 10 a.m.
