Area churches offer
Christmas in Triangle Park
LOCK HAVEN -- Are you longing to hear your favorite Christmas carols? How about the nativity story?
If you love old-fashioned holiday joys like these, be sure to come out for "Christmas in the Park."
Sunday, Dec. 18 in Triangle Park, the Clinton County Cluster of United Methodist Churches will spread the Christmas spirit to the whole community with carols and scripture reading, candle-lighting, and a short message by local pastors.
"Christmas in the Park" starts at at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy it. Remember to bring a lawn chair and dress for the weather.
Afterwards, everyone is encouraged to step inside Covenant United Methodist Church, just up the block, for warm drinks, refreshments and fellowship.
And if you like carols, don't forget the Covenant Church Choir Concert, set for 3 p.m. this Sunday, Dec. 11, with choir anthems and instrumental selections presented by a variety of musicians. Refreshments will follow.
Spaghetti dinner
FARRANDSVILLE -- The People's Church of Farrandsville will hold a spaghetti dinner on Wednesday, Jan. 11 from 4 to 6 p.m.
The dinner, which features spaghetti, meatballs, bread and applesauce, will cost $8 and is drive thru, pick-up only on the back patio of the church.
Tickets will not be held and must be paid for at the time of order. Call 570-748-9667 to order your tickets.
Winter Chocolate Fest
AVIS -- Grace Fellowship Church, 19 W. Ridge St., Avis, will hold a Winter Chocolate Fest today from 1 to 5 p.m.
The event will feature Chocolate fountains with delicious items to dip in them, other chocolate treats, and indoor and outdoor hot chocolate bar, s'mores, coffee bar, raffles, chocolate vendors and pictures.

Advent services
RENOVO -- Renovo Area Council of Churches will hold Advent Mid-Week Services at 7 p.m. on the following days:
-- Wednesday, Dec. 14 at Renovo Community Church.
-- Wednesday, Dec. 21 at St. Joseph Church.
Christmas concert
AVIS -- A Christmas Concert will be presented on Dec. 18 at 3 p.m. at the Avis United Methodist Church, 215 Prospect Ave., Avis.
Light refreshments will be served after the concert.
Christmas Bazaar
JERSEY SHORE -- St. John Lutheran Church, 229 S. Broad St., Jersey Shore, will hold its annual Christmas Bazaar today, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
The general public can purchase a hot lunch, deluxe homemade cookie trays, holiday crafts, fresh Christmas evergreen centerpieces and an assortment of items from their white elephant table. There's something for everyone.
Santa is expected to make an appearance between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
St. John Lutheran Church also invites you to attend their regular worship service each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. All are welcome.
Covenant Choir offers
public concert
LOCK HAVEN -- The Covenant United Methodist Church Holiday Concert is offered to the public Sunday, Dec. 11, at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary at 44 W. Main St.
The concert will feature anthems by the choir and instrumental music by a variety of musicians.
Refreshments will be served following the concert.
Another musical opportunity at the church is an evening of caroling to shut-ins, Friday, Dec. 9, at 6 p.m. Warm drinks and snacks will follow.
Pancakes with Santa
AVIS -- Avis United Methodist Church will offer free pancakes with Santa today from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Everyone is invited to come for breakfast, meet Santa and to hear the story of Christmas, the birthday of Jesus Christ our Savior. The church is located at 215 Prospect Ave., Avis.
New Year's Day Dinner
MILL HALL -- Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church, 111 Main St., Mill Hall, will hold a New Year's sauerkraut dinner on New Year's Day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. This complimentary dinner is take-out only. Menu is sauerkraut, pork, hot dogs, mashed potatoes and dessert. There is no charge and everyone is welcome. Guests are asked to enter through the alley and someone will bring your dinner to you.
Free Santa photos
HOWARD -- Howard United Methodist Church will be hosting Santa and Mrs. Claus at the church on Saturday, Dec. 10, from 10 a.m. until noon. Parents are invited to bring their children to visit with Santa and to take photos for free!

Candle walk
MARSH CREEK -- Marsh Creek Brethren in Christ Church is planning to "rekindle" a tradition that was started some 72 years ago at the church. Cora Buckwalter began the annual Christmas candle walk with all the young ladies of the church. You are invited to join us for a Reproduction of a Traditional Christmas Candle Walk that will be held on Dec. 11 at 6 p.m. The church is located at 417 Summit Hill Road, Howard, and is handicapped accessible. There will be a special arrival of "Santa" between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The bazaar is a fun event for the entire family.

Game Night
LOCK HAVEN -- The next monthly Game Night at Great Island Presbyterian Church, 12 W. Water St., Lock Haven, will be held on Thursday, Jan. 12, from 6-8 p.m. All ages welcome. Games and cards will be available or bring your favorite to share. Game nights are held monthly on the second Thursday of the month.
Sing alongs
MILL HALL -- Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church, 111 Main St., Mill Hall, holds sing-alongs the second and fourth Fridays of each month. Each runs from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the church sanctuary and features old favorites. The public is invited. Songbooks are provided with Kay Bossert leading and Pam Blesh playing the piano.
Coffee club
FLEMINGTON -- Flemington First Church of Christ, 714 Canal St., holds Coffee Club every Thursday from 8:30 to 10 a.m.
Youth group
FLEMINGTON -- Flemington First Church of Christ, 714 Canal St., holds its fall Youth Group meetings on Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m. The group is open to grades kindergarten through fourth and fifth through twelfth.
The meeting starts off each Thursday with a meal, followed by a lesson and game time.
Recycling help
YARNELL -- Yarnell United Methodist Church would like your help in recycling. The church is collecting plastic bags that will be recycled and made into a bench for the church yard.
Through Trex Recycling, the church team needs to collect more than 500 pounds of plastic (that's about 40,500 plastic bags) in a six-month span then Trex will donate a high-performance composite bench to the church. So far the church has collected about 235 pounds of the plastic towards the bench goal, but the Feb. 1 collection deadline is fast approaching.
Plactic being collected are grocery bags, dry cleaning bags, Ziploc bags of all sizes, bread bags (turn inside out to dump out the bread crumbs), plastic wrap taken from cases of water, toilet paper and paper towels, shrink wrap and bubble wrap. Plastics can be dropped off to Donna who lives near the Yarnell UM Church. Call Donna first at 814-880-9450 to make arrangements so that she can collect your bags and place them in a dry area.
