The Bible is a great gift

2 Timothy 3:16-17 NASB says, "All Scripture is inspired by God and beneficial for teaching, for rebuke, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man or woman of God may be fully capable, equipped for every good work."

The Bible contains 66 books, written by 40 authors, conveying over a period of approximately 1,600 years. It contains 31,102 verses and 775,693 words. The Bible is also the most printed book in the world and translated in more languages than any other book.

The Bible is God's Holy Word, and the Scriptures are infallible. The authorship of all 66 books of the Bible is by the Holy Spirit who anointed those that wrote the words. The cannon of Scriptures is also closed, which means it cannot be added to or subtracted from. The Holy Word of God is the most important and powerful book in the whole world and in the entire history of humanity.

2 Peter 1:20-21 says, "But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture becomes a matter of someone's own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God."

As Kevin Conner referenced, "The Holy Scriptures are a revelation of God coming from God, and flowing through and to man. They are the only inspired and infallible revelation ever given to man, and are the supreme authority in all matters of faith and morals.

The Bible is a great and precious gift to humanity that reveals who God is and His plans for our lives. It also is about the salvation God makes available to everyone that will believe and receive in their hearts Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.

In her book, What the Bible is About, Henrietta Mears said, "From Adam to Abraham we have the history of the human race. From Abraham to Christ we have the history of the chosen race. From Christ on we have the history of the church."

Some other quotes in history about the Bible:

Abraham Lincoln said, "I believe the Bible is the best gift God has ever given to man. All the good from the Savior of the world is communicated through this book."

George Washington noted, "it is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible."

Andrew Jackson said, "that book, sir, is the rock on which our republic rests."

Charles Dickens wrote, "the New Testament is the very best that ever was or ever will be known in the world."

Henry Halley wrote in Halley's Bible Handbook that, "The Old Testament is an account of a Nation. The New Testament is an account of a man." And "God Himself became a Man, to give mankind a concrete, definite, tangible idea of what kind of person to think of when we think of God. God is like Jesus. Jesus was God incarnate in human form. His appearance on the Earth is the central event in all history. The Old Testament sets the stage for it. The New Testament describes it. The whole Bible is built around this beautiful story of Christ, and His promises of Life Eternal to those who accept Him. The Bible was written only that men might believe, and understand, and know, and love and follow Christ.

Christ, the center and heart of the Bible, the Center and heart of history."

The Bible was written to us so that we would be blessed and encouraged. It was also written to us so that we would have and cultivate a personal relationship with God. And that we would explore and understand what life is about. May you read and meditate on God's Word and become blessed and also encouraged with hope and faith!
