LOCK HAVEN -- Are you looking for something to do on a dull, winter Sunday afternoon? Covenant United Methodist Church at 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven, has just the thing! Everyone is invited to an Old Fashion Gospel Hymn Sing with the local band, the Twisted Racquet Tears, on Sunday, Feb. 19, from 2-4 p.m. in the Assembly Room of the church.
The band is comprised of five energetic and talented "seniors" who play at a variety of local venues and serve as the "house band" for the Music Jam held the first and third Friday from 1-3 p.m. at the Clinton County Community Center for Healthy Aging in Lock Haven. The core group of the band met over 20 years ago while playing racquet ball (hence the name) and added members to the band throughout the years. Current members include Bruce Wooley, Jim George, George Stefanski, all on guitar, Rose Reeder on bass and Diana Andrus on mandolin. Lyrics to the gospel songs are projected on a screen or the wall so that everyone can sing along.
The church has a parking lot adjacent to the building and free street parking is available on Sunday. The location is handicapped accessible with an inside ramp. For more information, call the church at 570-748-6481.
