Awaken Youth Conference

AVIS -- Grace Fellowship Church will hold an Awaken Youth Conference in August.

This is a youth conference for everyone, from incoming 6th grade students to graduated 12th graders. It's a weekend-long event (not overnight) at the church for students to come together and make friends, learn about the Bible and other topics important to teenagers and have fun while doing it!

The church plans outdoor excursions which include fishing, kayaking, hiking and indoor activities like crafts! Members will have speakers from the area come and share their story and talk about the theme that runs through the entire weekend.

Come join church members this August for an awesome weekend. Cost is $50 per student and that includes: food, merchandise, notebook, pen, stickers and more.

Walnut Street Church of Christ

LOCK HAVEN -- The Walnut Street Church of Christ, 714 W. Walnut St. Lock Haven, welcomes everyone to weekly worship services Sunday's from 9:30-10:45 a.m.

McElhattan Pathway to Christ

McELHATTAN -- McElhattan Pathway to Christ, 502 McElhattan Drive, will offer Sunday services at 10 a.m. each week.

The church is the former McElhattan United Methodist.

Worship in the park

LOCK HAVEN -- Woolrich Community UM Church will be holding worship in the Woolrich Community Park on Sunday, June 25, at 9:45 a.m. at Pavilion #1 (the one nearest the ball fields). Following worship will be a potluck lunch. Please bring a dish to share and your own place settings. Worshiping in God's creation lightens the soul.

Weekly services

MILL HALL -- The Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church holds weekly services each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. All denominations are welcome and the church is handicap accessible with plenty of parking in the back of the church. Refreshments are always available.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

MILL HALL -- The monthly meeting of the Prayer Shawl Ministry will be held July 5 at noon at the Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church.

The church is handicap accessible and welcomes all skill levels of needle workers. Yarn, needles, lunch and fellowship is provided. All the ministry needs is for you to join them.

The church has plenty of parking in the back, just come up the ramp.

Sunday Concert

Lamar Lighthouse Camp along Route 64 in Lamar will have Summer Concerts each Sunday evening at 7 p.m. The Foresters will be performing on June 25. On July 2 Tru-Vintage will be on stage. All concerts are free, but a love offering is taken each Sunday evening. Call Lynette at 570-337-0203 for more info.

VBS

MARSH CREEK -- Vacation Bible School will be held June 25-28 at the Marsh Creek BIC Church. Sunday night starts with a kick-off picnic at 5:30. VBS begins at 6:30 the other evenings. The theme is Heavenward Ho this year. All children (and their parents) are welcome. The church is located at 417 Summit Hill Road, Howard. Call Pastor Dan at 814-625-3544 for info.

New Pathway to Christ Church

MCELHATTAN -- McElhattan Pathway to Christ at 502 McElhattan Drive will offer Sunday services at 10 a.m. On Sunday, June 25, please join us for worship with a special treat from the Penns Valley Men's Chorus. After the service, you're invited to join us for a time of great fellowship and to enjoy a free (build your own) ice cream sundae with plenty of toppings to choose from.

On Sunday, July 2, bring a lawn chair and join us for an outdoor hymn sing service! This will be a time of fellowship to follow with free ice cream sundaes! All are welcome!

Blood Drive

LOCK HAVEN -- A Community Blood Drive will be hosted by the Big Woods Bible Church, 241 S. Hanna St., Lock Haven, on Monday, June 26, from 1-6 p.m. For more information and to sign up, go to redcrossblood.org, enter the zip code 17745, and then select Big Woods!

Outdoor Concert Series

SNYDERTOWN -- St. Mark Lutheran Church at 850 Snydertown Road, Howard, will host three, free, family-friendly music events this summer outside around its pavilion. Besides music, the evenings feature a fire pit to roast hot dogs, S'mores and more. Those who attend can bring food for themselves and to share. It all makes for a wonderful evening for community time.

The series began June 23 with Dan Christopher and Friends.

On July 14, the Bluegrass group, the Parlor Pickers, will perform. And, finally, on July 28, Karen Barner will perform sing-alongs for kids. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs for more comfortable sitting. Each evening begins at 6:30 p.m. when the fire pit gets going, and music starts around 7 p.m.

Patriotic Hymn Festival

LOCK HAVEN -- Patriotic hymns and Psalm readings will be shared on Sunday, July 2, from 10-11 a.m., at Great Island Presbyterian Church, 15 Water St., Lock Haven. Free themed gift bags will be given to the first 45 worshippers. Come and celebrate the liberty and freedom with which our country has been blessed by God and the sacrifices of others. All are welcome!

Outdoor Services

MACKEYVILLE -- Mackeyville United Methodist will be having outdoor services with music at their pavilion on June 24, July 15, Aug. 26, Sept.16 and Oct. 14. The services will begin at 7 p.m. Contact Eileen at 814-777-5510 for more info.

Booneville VBS

Various churches from the Sugar Valley area are sponsoring an outdoor Vacation Bible School experience at the Booneville Campground from Sunday, June 25, through Thursday, June 29. This year's theme is "Stellar - Shine Jesus' Light" and will feature outer space decor, crafts and activities. All ages from preschool through teens are welcome to attend. No registration is required to attend. The event will begin at 6 p.m. on June 25 and end at 8:30 p.m. The times for the remaining four days are 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. For additional information, contact Grace at (570) 725-3926 or Dee at (570) 725-3013.

Worship service time change

The Nittany Valley Charge United Church of Christ Sunday morning worship service times have changed. Mt. Bethel/Salona will worship at Salona at 9 a.m. and Emmanuel UCC in Jacksonville will worship at 10:30 a.m. Mt. Bethel/Salona will continue to alternate between churches every other Sunday (June 11 service was at Mt. Bethel.) These times will remain in effect through Sunday, May 26, 2024.

Christians with Rhythm

St. Mark Lutheran Church will have a Christians with Rhythm concert on July 8 at 6:30 p.m.

5-Day Club

SNYDERTOWN -- St. Mark Lutheran Church at 850 Snydertown Road, Howard, hosts 5-Day Club -- a free week of games, activities, Bible lessons and more for kids. The club, which is run by Child Evangelism Fellowship, goes from July 17-21, from 1-3 p.m. each day, at St. Mark Lutheran.

Each day consists of dynamic Bible lessons, creative learning activities, songs and more. It is designed for children ages 5 to 12, regardless of religious background, but all ages are welcome. Parents also are welcome to stay. Free snacks and refreshments are provided each day. While the club is free, parents/guardians are asked to register their children.
