Community worship/picnic
LAMAR -- St. Mark Lutheran Church (850 Snydertown Road, Howard) will be holding a community worship and picnic Sept. 10 at Porter Township Recreation Park, in Lamar. All are invited to attend. The worship and potluck picnic will be under Pavilion 1 at the park. The event begins at 10:30 a.m. with an informal worship service, followed by a potluck picnic and free time in the park. For those planning to attend, if you would like to bring food to share, that is welcome, but you do not need to bring food to attend the event. Anyone attending also is invited to bring lawn chairs if you'd like. The day will be one of fellowship, food, and fun! Worship in the park
WOOLRICH -- Woolrich Community United Methodist Church will be holding worship services in Woolrich Park, Park Avenue in Woolrich, this Sunday, Aug. 27, at 9:45 a.m., in Pavillion #2. Bring a chair and a dish to share if planning on staying for the pot-luck lunch served after the service. All are welcome and come as you are.
Outdoor Services

St. Luke's to host Blood Drive
FLEMINGTON -- St. Luke’s United Church of Christ will be hosting an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Tuesday, Aug. 29, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the church. You may register to donate on the Red Cross website at www.redcrossblood.org. Select find a location, enter zip code 17745 and select make an appointment. Scroll to Tuesday, Aug. 29, select St. Luke’s and schedule your appointment. Our famous root beer floats will be served.
Sunday Concerts
LAMAR -- Lamar Lighthouse Camp along Route 64 in Lamar will have Summer Concerts each Sunday evening at 7 p.m. On Aug. 27 the group New Journey will be in concert. The last concert of this summer will be on Sept. 17 when GloryWay takes the stage. All concerts are free, but a love offering is taken each Sunday evening. Call Lynette at 570-337-0203 for more info.
Choir Invite
MILL HALL -- The Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church, 111 Main St., Mill Hall, invites anyone interested to come and be part of their choir. The first rehearsal is Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary.
If you like to sing, please consider joining other members, there are no try outs. Everyone is invited. If you would just like to come, listen and watch you are welcome to do that also.
If you would just like to come on Sundays and sit with the choir that’s an option also. If you don’t want to sing you can just move your lips or tap your foot!
The church has no restrictions and has a wonderful choir leader, an organist and pianist.

Labor Day Picnic
WILLIAMSPORT -- The parishioners of Immaculate Conception Parish invite you to their annual country style ham and turkey picnic dinner. In addition to the dinner, french fries, funnel cakes, sausage sandwiches, soda and ice cream will be available on the grounds, as well as a few small games of chance and Bingo! A variety of homemade jams, jellies and fudge will be for sale in the summer kitchen. The picnic dinner will be held on Labor Day, Sept. 4, from noon until 6 p.m., at 5973 Jacks Hollow Road, Williamsport. Ticket prices are $12 for adults; $5 for children 4-12 years; and children under 3 eat free! Takeout meals are also available after 12:30 p.m. for $12 each. Soup Sale and Luncheon
The Howard United Methodist Church, 144 W. Main St., Howard, will sponsor a community soup sale on Thursday, Sept. 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eat in or take out. Pre-orders for quarts of soup should be made by Sunday prior to luncheon. Contact Patti Long at 814-625-2182. Soup comes in freezable containers. Cost is $8 for lunch or quarts of soup. Proceeds from soup sales are designated to local missions in the area. Invite a friend, come for lunch and enjoy a time of good food and fellowship while supporting a worthy cause!

Service Time Changes
The Nittany Valley Charge United Church of Christ Sunday morning worship service times have changed. Mt. Bethel/Salona will worship at Salona at 9 a.m. and Emmanuel UCC in Jacksonville will worship at 10:30 a.m. Mt. Bethel/Salona will continue to alternate between churches every other Sunday. These times will remain in effect through Sunday, May 26, 2024.
The People's United Methodist Church of Farrandsville has updated their hours for worship this summer. Effective July 2, services will begin at 9 a.m. This change will be in effect for an undetermined date.
Fall Hymn Sing
Nittany Valley Alliance Church will hold a fall hymn sing on Oct. 1 at 7 p.m.
Sing-alongs
MILL HALL -- Mill Hall Presbyterian church holds sing-alongs the second and fourth Fridays of each month. Each runs from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the church sanctuary and features old favorites. The public is invited. Songbooks are provided with Kay Bossert leading and Pam Blesh playing the piano.

FLEMINGTON -- Flemington First Church of Christ, 714 Canal St., holds Coffee Club every Thursday morning from 8:30-10 a.m.
Youth group
FLEMINGTON -- Flemington First Church of Christ, 714 Canal St., holds its Youth Group meetings on Thursdays from 6-8 p.m. The group is open to grades kindergarten through fourth and also fifth through twelfth. The meeting starts off each Thursday with a meal, followed by a lesson and game time. Call 570-726-8009 for more details.

MILL HALL -- The Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church holds weekly services each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. All denominations are welcome and the church is handicap accessible with plenty of parking in the back of the church. Refreshments are always available.
