Clothing Available
Bargains and Blessings Community Closet's mobile thrift store will be open on Saturday, Sept. 9, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the First Commonwealth Bank, Main Street, Beech Creek, weather permitting. Gently used clothing, shoes and accessories for the entire family are available in sizes from infants through 3X. There is an abundance of children's clothing available. Items are priced at $5 per bag full and bags will be furnished.
Bargains and Blessings Community Closet is an outreach ministry of Faith Chapel UMC that serves Beech Creek, Blanchard, Howard and surrounding areas. All proceeds go back into the community to help families in need.
Donations of good quality clothing may be dropped off at the Beech Creek Wesleyan Church, the Blanchard Church of Christ, Liberty Baptist Church, the Howard United Methodist Church or any Tuesday morning at the Faith Chapel United Methodist Church, 551 Hunter Run Road, Howard. You may also contact the number below to make alternate arrangements.

Community worship/picnic
LAMAR -- St. Mark Lutheran Church (850 Snydertown Road, Howard) will be holding a community worship and picnic on Sept. 10 at Porter Township Recreation Park in Lamar. All are invited to attend. The worship and potluck picnic will be under Pavilion 1 at the park. The event begins at 10:30 a.m. with an informal worship service, followed by a potluck picnic and free time in the park. For those planning to attend, if you would like to bring food to share, that is welcome, but you do not need to bring food to attend the event. Anyone attending also is invited to bring lawn chairs if you'd like. The day will be one of fellowship, food and fun! Sunday Concerts
LAMAR -- Lamar Lighthouse Camp along Route 64 in Lamar will have Summer Concerts each Sunday evening at 7 p.m. On Sept. 3 the Nittany Valley Community Voices will be on stage. Texas Star will perform on Sept. 10. The last concert of this summer will be on Sept. 17 when GloryWay takes the stage. All concerts are free, but a love offering is taken each Sunday evening. Labor Day Picnic
WILLIAMSPORT -- The parishioners of Immaculate Conception Parish invite you to their annual country style ham and turkey picnic dinner. In addition to the dinner, french fries, funnel cakes, sausage sandwiches, soda and ice cream will be available on the grounds, as well as a few small games of chance and Bingo! A variety of homemade jams, jellies and fudge will be for sale in the summer kitchen. The picnic dinner will be held on Labor Day, Sept. 4, from noon until 6 p.m., at 5973 Jacks Hollow Road, Williamsport. Ticket prices are $12 for adults; $5 for children 4-12 years; and children under 3 eat free! Takeout meals are also available after 12:30 p.m. for $12 each. Church in the Park
HOWARD -- Howard United Methodist Church invites you to church in the park on Sunday, Sept. 10. The service will begin at 9 a.m. at West End Park's pavilion (unless bad weather). Dress casual and bring a covered dish to share for the early lunch. Also bring your own place settings and drink. All are welcome to come and enjoy church in an outdoor, casual setting.
Pot Pie Sale
WINGATE -- Bald Eagle Valley Community United Methodist Church will have a pot pie sale on Monday, Sept. 11, with pick-up beginning at 4 p.m. in the church parking lot. Ham or chicken pot pie will be available at $8 a quart. Preorders should be phoned to Janette at 814-883-0893. Walk-ins will be accepted until sold out.
Choir Invite
MILL HALL -- The Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church, 111 Main St., Mill Hall, invites anyone interested to come and be part of their choir. If you like to sing, please consider joining other members, there are no try outs. Everyone is invited. If you would just like to come, listen and watch you are welcome to do that also.
If you would just like to come on Sundays at 7 p.m. and sit with the choir that’s an option also. If you don’t want to sing you can just move your lips or tap your foot!
The church has no restrictions and has a wonderful choir leader, an organist and pianist.

Soup Sale and Luncheon
HOWARD -- Howard United Methodist Church, 144 W. Main St., Howard, will sponsor a community soup sale on Thursday, Sept. 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eat in or take out. Pre-orders for quarts of soup should be made by Sunday prior to luncheon. Contact Patti Long at 814-625-2182. Soup comes in freezable containers. Cost is $8 for lunch or quarts of soup. Proceeds from soup sales are designated to local missions in the area. Invite a friend, come for lunch and enjoy a time of good food and fellowship while supporting a worthy cause!
Taste of the Tide
MILL HALL -- Marsh Creek BIC and Cedar Heights BIC Churches will be offering a Mediterranean meal to support the Gospel Tide with its ministry. The meal will be held on Sept. 30 beginning at 5 p.m. at Cedar Heights Brethren in Christ Church in Mill Hall. The meal is free and will feature Mediterranean food along with a presentation by Gospel Tide. The public is invited to learn more about the Gospel Tide ministry. Service Time Changes
The Nittany Valley Charge United Church of Christ Sunday morning worship service times have changed. Mt. Bethel/Salona will worship at Salona at 9 a.m. and Emmanuel UCC in Jacksonville will worship at 10:30 a.m. Mt. Bethel/Salona will continue to alternate between churches every other Sunday. These times will remain in effect through Sunday, May 26, 2024.
The People's United Methodist Church of Farrandsville has updated their hours for worship this summer. Effective July 2, services will begin at 9 a.m. This change will be in effect for an undetermined date.
