Soup and dessert sale

LOCK HAVEN -- Lock Haven First Church of Christ's Youth Group will be holding a soup and dessert sale on Oct. 15.

The cost is $7 for eat-in or take out. Choices of 16 ounce soup include creamy chicken tortellini, potato, stuffed pepper and cheeseburger. Proceeds benefit the youth group.

Grief Support Group

MACKEYVILLE -- Grief Support Group, to help those in area communities that are dealing with a loss, will meet Wednesday, Oct. 11, and every second Wednesday of the month, at 7 p.m. at the Mackeyville United Methodist Church.

Anyone who grieves the loss of loved ones is invited to join.

Homecoming

MACKEYVILLE -- The Mackeyville United Methodist Church Homecoming celebration and dinner is Saturday, Oct. 14 at 5 p.m. in the church pavilion. There will be lots of food, live entertainment, cake walks, Trivia games where you might just win a prize, a fire ring to roast marshmallows, reminiscing with old friends, making new ones and lots of fun.

Yard Sale

BEECH CREEK -- Beech Creek Wesleyan Church is having an indoor Yard Sale on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., hosted by the Youth at BCW.

Trombone Concert

HOWARD -- Howard United Methodist Church invites the public to hear a trombone concert presented by the Penn State Trombones. The service on Sunday, Oct. 8, starts at 9 a.m.

Chicken Dinner

JERSEY SHORE -- The Oriole Church, 39 Main Road, Jersey Shore, will hold a chicken and biscuit dinner on Oct. 7, from 4-7 p.m. Tickets are available at the door for a donation of $6.50 for adults; $4 for children 4-12; and those under age 4 will be free.

Baptisms

MILL HALL -- On Sunday, at Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church, 111 Main Street, Mill Hall, during its regular service, members will be baptizing three children. Everyone is welcome to witness this beautiful sacrament. The message will be totally centered around stones….Stones that the children found, but they are special stones. Come and hear the message of the Hag Stones, meet these beautiful children and their families and fellowship with church members. Service starts at 10:30 a.m.

Hymn sings

MILL HALL -- Those who are interested in singing old hymns that our grandparents sang are invited to sing at Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church, 111 Main St., Mill Hall, each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. For questions, call 570-726-4112 and leave a message.

The church is handicap accessible with lots of parking behind the church. Refreshments are served before the service.

Weekend Services

HOWARD -- Curtin United Methodist Church will feature Gwen Mouliert, Proclaiming His Word, during the weekend of Oct. 7-8. The Saturday morning service begins at 9:30 a.m. and the Saturday evening service starts at 7 p.m. The Sunday morning service starts at 8 a.m.

Book fair

HOWARD -- St. Mark Lutheran Church, 850 Snydertown Road, Howard, will host its annual Free Book Fair and Costless Closet event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 7.

Hundreds of free books, media, puzzles, games, CDs and DVDS will be available to take, along with gently used and clean clothes. Various foods and baked goods also will be available to purchase during the day.

For those attending, you are invited to bring an unexpired food item or monetary donation to help the St. Mark Food Pantry that serves the region.

St. Mark is accepting book and media donations for the event that are in good condition, but no encyclopedias.

Bible Study

FLEMINGTON -- Flemington First Church of Christ, 714 Canal St., will host Sunday night Bible study beginning from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The study will take place for 11 weeks and will focus on the book of Daniel. Everyone is invited to attend.

Fall Festival

JERSEY SHORE -- Pine Creek Valley Christian Church, 26 Locomo Lane, Jersey Shore, will hold a Fall Festival on Oct. 7, from 4-7 p.m.

The festival will include free games, food and drinks. Bring your family for an evening of fun, and bring a chair for the campfire.

There will be tons of different games for young and old, along with hot dogs, hot chocolate, cider and more. There's something for everyone to enjoy at the festival.

Lasagna Dinner

JERSEY SHORE -- The Jersey Shore Presbyterian Church is having their annual Lasagna Dinner on Oct. 7, from 4:30-6 p.m. Come hungry and pick up a few dinners for the whole family. To pick up your delicious lasagna dinner turn onto Thompson Street to the side entrance of the church, pay and receive a ticket. Proceed to the rear parking lot for pick-up.

Dinners for ages 13 and over are $12; for those ages 6-12 the cost is $5; and children under 5 are free. Meals include the lasagna, bread, a side salad and dessert.

Advent Music

MOOSE RUN -- Advent Church and Historical Museum is having a Harvest Home music fest, on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. In addition to live music by the Bellefonte Community Band and other musicians, there will be children's activities, crafts, homemade preserves and baked goods offered. Cider and donuts will be provided. Get a tour of the on-site museum and learn how folks preserved food for the winter months in the Holt's Hollow area.

Pot Pie Sale

WINGATE -- Bald Eagle Valley Community United Methodist Church will hold a pot pie sale on Monday, Oct. 9, beginning at 4 p.m. Your choice of ham or chicken pot pie can be pre-ordered by calling Janette anytime before Monday morning at 814-883-0893. Freezable quart containers filled with pot pie are $8 each and can be picked up in the parking lot starting at 4 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome, until sold out. The church is located at 111 Runville Road, Bellefonte, just behind the Sheetz in Wingate.

Meatloaf dinner

MCELHATTAN -- McElhattan Pathway to Christ Church will host a Filled Meatloaf Dinner on Saturday, Oct. 14, from 3 to 6 p.m. The meal can be dine-in or takeout and will include meatloaf, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables and cake for dessert for $15.

MACKEYVILLE -- Mackeyville United Methodist will be having an outdoor service with music at their pavilion on Oct. 14. The service will begin at 7 p.m. Contact 814-777-5510 for info.

Basket Raffle

FLEMINGTON -- Flemington First Church of Christ, 714 Canal St., will hold its Third Annual Kerry Clausen Memorial Basket Raffle and Car Show on Sunday, Oct. 15, from 12 to 3 p.m.

Worship Team on Tour

JERSEY SHORE -- The Goshen College Parables will be presenting a special service of music, drama and faith stories entitled “Walk in the Light” at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct.15, at the Jersey Shore Presbyterian Church, 235 S. Main St., Jersey Shore, as a part of their 2023 Eastern Parables Tour.

The music program at Goshen College in Goshen, Ind., is well-known for its outstanding ensembles and dedication to equality through the power of music. "Parables" is a small auditioned ensemble of 11 Goshen College students who are tremendously talented -- creating, singing and acting in witness and worship. The group is under the direction of Marcia Yost, award-winning Goshen College Director of the Arts.

Soup Sale and Luncheon

HOWARD -- Howard United Methodist Church, 144 W. Main St., Howard, will sponsor a community soup sale on Thursday, Oct. 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eat in or take out. Soups available are vegetable beef, ham and bean, chicken corn and chicken noodle. Quarts for take out should be pre-ordered by the Sunday prior to luncheon. Contact Patti Long at 814-625-2182. Soup comes in freezable containers. Cost is $8 for lunch or quarts of soup. Proceeds from soup sales are designated to local missions in the area. Invite a friend, come for lunch and enjoy a time of good food and fellowship while supporting a worthy cause!

Revival Services

LOGANTON -- Evangelist George Holley will be leading Revival Services at the Loganton Wesleyan Church from Sunday, Oct. 22, through Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2023. Everyone is invited to join us for this special ministry. Service time on Sunday is at 10:30 a.m., and then each evening at 6:30 p.m.

Communicating the Good News of the Gospel is the passion of Brother George, who travels to local churches, camp meetings, conferences, retreats and other venues. Ladies Day Out

FLEMINGTON -- Hillview Wesleyan Church, 1200 W. 4th St., Lock Haven, will be holding a free Ladies Day Out on Nov. 4 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the church's Fellowship Building. This event is a relaxing and refreshing day to get away from the busyness of life and relax with friends, share laughter and stories and spend time with God. Fall fair

FLEMINGTON -- St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Flemington will be holding a Fall Fair, Saturday, Nov. 4, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. There will be an indoor yard sale, vendors and raffle. Homemade pies, desserts, homemade soups and sandwiches will also be served. St. Luke’s is also holding a food drive the entire month of October for the Lock Haven Salvation Army Food Bank, to help the organization in their Thanksgiving Food drive.
