Christmas Program

MACKEYVILLE -- The Mackeyville United Methodist Church will be filled with lots of music and Christmas treats Sunday, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. All are welcome to join in this Christmas tradition.

December Services

LOCK HAVEN -- Great Island Presbyterian Church will celebrate Advent in worship every Sunday at 10 a.m., including Christmas Eve morning, Dec. 24. The church will also have its annual Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at 7:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, Dec. 19, members will have a "Blue Christmas" service which is “a survival guide for the holiday season. A contemplative service with gentle reminders to self-care, setting sensible boundaries and expectations.”

Worship in the Woods

LOCK HAVEN -- Members invite everyone to join a Christmas Worship in the Woods at Big Woods Bible Church, 241 S. Hanna St., Lock Haven, that will be running every Friday and Saturday night in December starting at 6 p.m. every 30 minutes until 9 p.m. This outdoor display of lights has over 8,000 LED lights that are synchronized to music.

Volunteers will help park you and bring you hot chocolate and cookies. You will stay right in your car and will be given instruction on how to tune in so that you can listen and enjoy the music depicting the true meaning of Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ.

If you’d like to know more about Jesus and his gift to each one of us, members invite you to join them on Dec. 24 at 6 p.m. for a Christmas Eve Service at 241 S. Hanna St., Lock Haven.

2nd Monday Dinner

RENOVO -- Renovo First United Methodist Church will be having a drive-up soup sale on Monday, Dec. 11, from 4 to 6 p.m. Vegetable Beef Soup or Chicken Noodle Soup will be available for $7 a quart. You may drive up and order between 4 and 6 p.m. or preorder between 2 and 4 p.m. You can preorder by calling 570-923-1313. Preorders are appreciated! To pick up, please enter from 8th Street to come to the back porch of the church for your orders.

Live Nativity

WINGATE -- Bald Eagle Valley Community Church will have their annual Live Nativity, The Reason for the Season, at Eagle Towing and Recovery. The Live Nativity event is free and will be held on Dec. 16, at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m., and again on Sunday, Dec. 17, at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. Each presentation is about 20 minutes long and includes the narration of Jesus' birth, carols and live animals. Bleacher seating is provided, but lawn chairs are welcomed. Dress warm, as this is an outdoor event. Eagle Towing is located at 1049 S. Eagle Valley Drive, Bellefonte, just past the BEA High School in Wingate.

Holiday Sing-Along

DUNNSTOWN -- Dunnstown United Methodist Church invites the public to a holiday sing-along featuring the Twisted Racquet-Tears on Sunday, Dec. 17, from 2-4 p.m. Refreshments will be provided and all are welcome! The church is located at 59 Church St., Dunnstown. Call Joe at 570-748-9139 for info.

The Joy of Christmas

BEECH CREEK -- The Children and Tweens of Beech Creek Wesleyan Church will present the Joy of Christmas in a combined Worship service on Sunday, Dec. 17, at 9 a.m. The program will include singing by the children and a puppet show performed by the Tweens.

Covenant Church

invites the public

LOCK HAVEN -- The annual Christmas in the Park event will be held Sunday, Dec. 17, at 4:30 p.m. in Triangle Park, with light refreshments and hot chocolate to follow in Covenant United Methodist Church at 44 W. Main St. Share the light of Christ during this afternoon of carol singing, candle lighting and hearing the Christmas Story.

The church also invites the community to services on Sunday, Dec. 24, Christmas Eve. The morning service is at 8:45 a.m., and the candlelight service is at 4 p.m.

Blue Christmas Services

Liberty Baptist Church in Blanchard will have a Blue Christmas Service on Thursday, Dec. 21, at 6 p.m. The service will help those who are dealing with grief following the loss of loved ones or for those who may be experiencing anxiety or depression during the holiday season.

St. Mark Lutheran Church in Snydertown is also having a Worship Service for the Weary, a service to help those dealing with grief, depression or anxiety during the holiday season. Pastor Pencek will host the service on Dec. 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the church. Call 814-383-4882 for more info.

Christmas Eve Gathering

LOCK HAVEN -- Common Places Church will hold a Christmas Eve Gathering at the Piper Aviation Museum Community Room at 6:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Eve Service

Communion Service

FLEMINGTON -- St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Flemington will be holding a Quiet Christmas Eve candlelight communion service Dec. 24 from 7-8 p.m. Sit quietly and go to the Altar when ready and communion will be offered or stay for the entire hour.

Zoom Bible Study

LOCK HAVEN -- Patrick Ferris, minister at the Walnut St. Church of Christ, will host a Zoom Bible Study every other Wednesday evening from 6:30-7:15. The goal is to go through the entire Bible in a way that makes each of us think. Everyone is invited and there is no obligation to attend. The next study session will be on Dec. 27. Bible Study

FLEMINGTON -- Flemington First Church of Christ, 714 Canal St., will host Sunday night Bible study beginning from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The study will take place for several weeks and is focusing on the book of Daniel. Everyone is invited to attend.

Sing-alongs

MILL HALL -- Mill Hall Presbyterian Church holds sing-alongs the second and fourth Fridays of each month. Each runs from 10:30-11:30 a.m. in the church sanctuary and features old favorites. The public is invited. Songbooks are provided with Kay Bossert leading and Pam Blesh playing the piano.

Hymn sings

MILL HALL -- Those who are interested in singing old hymns that our grandparents sang are invited to sing at Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church, 111 Main St., Mill Hall, each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. For questions, call 570-726-4112 and leave a message.

The church is handicap accessible with lots of parking behind the church. Refreshments are served before the service. You're invited to worship with us each Sunday morning.

Coffee Club & Youth Group

FLEMINGTON -- Flemington First Church of Christ, 714 Canal St., holds Coffee Club every Thursday morning from 8:30-10 a.m. Enjoy coffee and fellowship with others.

The church holds its Youth Group meetings on Thursdays from 6-8 p.m. The group is open to grades kindergarten through fourth and also fifth through twelfth. The meeting starts off each Thursday with a meal, followed by a lesson and game time. Call 570-726-8009 for more details.
