I am sure you have heard this song by Tina Turner. It places doubt in your mind concerning
love and the writers of the song display that they have no idea what love is all about.
Sadly to say, this false information has formed a solid misconception of love and has promoted a large crack in many relationships.
The truth is GOD is LOVE, and He instructs us to share His characteristics. 1 John 4:7-8 gives a better foundation for the meaning of Love. It reads, "Beloved, let us Love one another; for Love is God and everyone that loves is born of God and knows God. He that loves not, knows not God for God is love."
Another scripture even gives more insight on love is John 15:13, "Greater love has no one than this; to lay down one's life for one's friends."
Love, through these wise words, becomes a very selfless emotion and not one that focuses on ourselves.
1 John 4:15-17 warns us against this counterfeit love: "Love not the world, neither the things that are of the world. If any man loves the world, (or the world's way of doing things), the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life is not of the Father, but of the world. And the world passes away and the lust thereof, but he that does the will of God (LOVE) Lives forever."
Hence, Love/God has everything to do with it. He has laid down ways of love to guide us to a
very peaceful, prosperous and long life. We would be wise to follow His instructions and believe
in love.
