Rev. JOHN SNYDER

2 Timothy 3:16-17 tells us that the whole Bible was given to us by inspiration from God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives; it straightens us out and helps us do what is right. It is God’s way of making us well prepared at every point, fully equipped to do good to everyone.

We are so blessed to have God’s Word, the Bible, available to us. The Holy Bible is infallible. It is the eternal, constant standard which never fluctuates or changes over time, no matter how messy life is or chaotic this world becomes. God’s Word reveals God’s plan and purpose for humanity. It not only enriches our lives, but it explains the way of salvation and reveals Jesus Christ as our Savior.

The Bible is also the most important book that was ever written. It was written by a supernatural revelation. 2 Peter 1:20 -21 NLT notes: Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.

The Bible is still applicable and relevant today for all of life’s problems, helping us live this life.

Psalm 1:1-3 says, Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on His law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither — whatever they do prospers.

We need to regularly read and think about God’s Word. We also need to learn how to meditate on it. When we do these things, we will grow in believing and trusting what it says and apply it more fully in our lives.

Psalm 119:105 reminds us of and promises, Your (God’s) word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. John 17:17, make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth.

If you are not familiar with the Bible or have never read it, or have not picked it up in a while, I would encourage you to begin reading this amazing book God has given us. This book will change your life! And it will bring you great encouragement. Consider starting in the New Testament with the book of John or exploring the book of Proverbs.
