LOCK HAVEN -- Covenant United Methodist Church invites families with children to a new type of Bible study, one for all ages.
The Family Bible Study will be held every Tuesday evening at 7 p.m., starting this coming Tuesday, May 7. The church is at 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven, and the study will meet in the first-floor assembly room just inside the front door of the older, more formal section of the building. There is cafe seating, and a ramp entrance is available.
If you cannot make it this Tuesday, you are welcome to come when you can.
Pastor Justin Frear has designed this study for children of any age and their adults, including parents, grandparents, guardians, aunts and uncles. Any family who wishes to spend more time in God's Word together is welcome.
"The first couple of weeks of the study will be a conversation," Pastor Justin said.
He will suggest strategies for families to read the Bible together and talk about what they have read so all ages may understand.
The second half of the study will be "a chance to put these strategies into practice," he said, with a study based on the book of Proverbs.
Proverbs contains prescriptions for daily living. The verses in this book can help you avoid evil and keep walking in God's light. Modern Americans will recognize some of these ideas, even if they have not read the Bible before:
"A wise child makes his father happy."
"If you are not honest, your money will not help you."
"The Lord does not let the righteous go hungry..."
"Being lazy will make you poor, but hard work will make you rich."
This study group is open to not just church members but all children and their favorite adults who want to get the most out of reading the Bible together.
There is no cost to participate. All you need is a Bible, in any translation.
