Back to School Festival

Candy & Nuts

Second Monday Dinner

RENOVO -- The First Renovo Second Monday Dinner will be moved from Sept. 9 to Sept. 15. Spaghetti and meatballs with Italian bread and dessert will be served. Call to pre-order from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 570-923-1313 for pick up after 4 p.m. Pre-orders are not necessary. Come get your dinner from 4-6 p.m.

Lamar Lighthouse concerts

LAMAR -- Only two concerts are left in the summer's concert series at Lamar Lighthouse Camp. The concerts are on Sunday evening at 7 p.m. in the campground's multi-purpose room. The public is invited to each of the free Sunday evening concerts. A love offering is taken during the evening. Indoor seating is provided for the concerts, or bring your lawn chairs for more comfortable seating.

Texas Star will perform on Sept. 8. The last concert of the summer will feature Glory Way on Sept. 15. Lamar Lighthouse Camp is located along Route 64, 2 miles south of I-80 exit 173.

Missionaries

FLEMINGTON -- Hillview Wesleyan Church will host Robin and Yoko White, missionaries to Japan, on Sept. 8 at 10:30 a.m. The public is invited to attend the service and hear the missionaries speak of their experiences and they work they do during their missionary service.

Free Clothing

BELLEFONTE -- Light of the World Clothing Bank at St. John's United Church of Christ, 145 W. Linn St., Bellefonte, will be open on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 9 a.m. to noon. Yard Sale

SALLADASBURG -- Salladasburg Church, on Main St., in Salladasburg, will host an indoor yard sale on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 8 a.m.- noon. The sale will include household items, clothing, furniture, books, toys, tools and CDs/DVDs. Proceeds will benefit local missions.

Blood Drive

Pot Pie Sale

WINGATE -- Wingate Faith Church will have a pot pie sale on Monday, Sept. 9, beginning at 4 p.m. Pre-orders for quarts of ham or chicken pot pie (with homemade bread) can be phoned in to Janette at 814-883-0893 anytime. The pot pie can then be picked up at the church. Walk-ins are also welcome, while supplies last. Quarts of pot pie come in freezable containers and are $8 each. Wingate Faith Church is located at 111 Runville Road, Bellefonte (right behind the Sheetz store in Wingate).

Grief Support

LOCK HAVEN -- Community Grief Support is a new opportunity for men and women to gather and seek help together. The next meeting will be on Sept. 10. The group will meet the second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 6-7 p.m. in the lounge of Covenant United Methodist Church, 44-46 W. Main St., Lock Haven.

The support group is free, confidential and open to anyone. There is no work book to follow and no end date. It is designed to become an established, long-term program.

Sharon Gensib and Pamela Brauchli are the facilitators. They will open each session but the discussion will go where the group takes it.

Car Show

FLEMINGTON -- The 4th Annual Kerry Clausen Basket Raffle and Car Show will be Sunday, Sept. 15, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., at Flemington First Church of Christ.

Outdoor Concert

BELLEFONTE -- Trinity United Methodist Church will be hosting an outdoor concert featuring the praise band, On The Mend, on Sunday, Sept. 15, at 3 p.m. There will also be a back to school give-away for kids who attend. Bring a lawn chair! The church is located at 128 W. Howard St., Bellefonte.

Blueberry Festival

WILLIAMSPORT -- Blueberries, fun and fellowship will abound when the congregation of St. Luke Lutheran Church, 1400 Market St., Williamsport, sponsors a Blueberry Festival with aid from Scout Troop 12 and Cub Scout Pack 12 with proceeds to support Sojourner Truth Ministries.

The festival is from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15, under a tent on the front lawn of the church and inside its community room in Bell Hall. The event is at no cost to the public, although donations will be accepted for Sojourner Truth, a non-profit, Christian ministry operating at 501 High St., that provides services for homelessness and hunger prevention.

Soup Sale

HOWARD -- Howard United Methodist Church will be having their first community soup sale and luncheon of the fall on Sept. 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Howard United Methodist Church, 144 W. Main St., Howard. Eat in or take out. Soups available are vegetable beef, ham and bean, chicken corn and chicken noodle. Quarts for take out should be preordered by the Sunday prior to luncheon. Contact Patti at 814-625-2182 for preorders or questions. Soup comes in freezable containers. Cost is $8 for lunch or quarts of soup. Proceeds from soup sales are designated to local missions in the area. Invite a friend, come for lunch and enjoy a time of good food and fellowship while supporting a worthy cause!

Free Movie

FLEMINGTON -- Join the Hillview Wesleyan Church for a free movie that will be shown on Sept. 21 at 6 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. The movie will be The Chronicles of Narnia - The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Bring the whole family to enjoy this free movie at the church, 1200 W. 4th St., Lock Haven.

Benefit Lunch

McELHATTAN -- McElhattan Pathway to Christ Church is holding a benefit lunch on Saturday, Sept. 21, to raise funds for the family of Keith "Wink" Winkleman. Keith, 53, was killed in an accident while driving a logging truck on July 2. The drive-thru lunch will begin at 11 a.m. and features a platter holding a hot sausage sandwich, macaroni salad, chips and a cookie. You get to provide a donation (suggested $10) for the meal to benefit his family. Come early to get your lunch while supplies last! A Celebration of Keith's Life is being planned for October.

Food Distribution

HOWARD -- Howard United Methodist Church will have a food distribution on Thursday, Oct. 3 and on Friday, Oct. 18, beginning at 5 p.m. Those needing food aid can line up at 4 p.m., but not before, being careful to not block driveways. Spaghetti dinner

DUNNSTOWN -- Dunnstown United Methodist Church is having a drive thru spaghetti dinner prepared by the Sons and Daughters of Italy on Oct. 9 with pick-up from 4-6 p.m. at the Son's Patio. Tickets are available by calling Carol Ordway at 570-748-9139. The cost is $10 per meal.

'Unsung Hero'

FLEMINGTON -- Hillview Wesleyan will be showing the movie "Unsung Hero" on Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. at the church. This is the story of Christian singer Rebecca St. James. She is the sister of the Christian singing group, For King & Country.

Comedy group

FLEMINGTON -- On Oct. 25, the comedy group, Bean and Bailey, will be live at Flemington First Church of Christ. Get tickets now by going to ffcoc.net or by calling the church office at 570-726-8009 for more information. The cost is $25 general admission and $40 for a VIP package which includes a meal and meet and greet.

Crafting group open to all

LOCK HAVEN -- A new crafting group is open to everyone who wants to share in the fun and maybe gain a new skill. Covenant Crafters meets Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. in Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., and is open to the general public.

Projects will vary.
