Mobile Thrift Store
BEECH CREEK -- Bargains and Blessings Community Closet's mobile thrift store will be set up in the parking lot of First Commonwealth Bank, 250 Main St., Beech Creek, on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., weather permitting.
Gently used clothing, shoes and accessories for the entire family are available. Sizes range from infants through 3X, and are priced at $5 per bag full. Bags will be furnished. Free water and small snacks will also be available.
Bargains and Blessings Community Closet is an outreach ministry of Faith Chapel United Methodist Church that serves Beech Creek, Blanchard, Howard and surrounding areas. All proceeds go back into the community to help families in need.
Lamar Lighthouse concert
LAMAR -- The last concert of the 2024 Summer Concert series at Lamar Lighthouse Campground is this Sunday at 7 p.m. The public is invited to enjoy the free concert featuring Glory Way on Sept. 15. A love offering is taken during the evening. Indoor seating is provided for the concerts, or bring your lawn chairs for more comfortable seating.
Lamar Lighthouse Camp is located along Route 64, 2 miles south of I-80 exit 173.
Car Show
FLEMINGTON -- The 4th Annual Kerry Clausen Basket Raffle and Car Show will be Sunday, Sept. 15, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., at Flemington First Church of Christ.
Outdoor Concert
BELLEFONTE -- Trinity United Methodist Church will be hosting an outdoor concert featuring the praise band, On The Mend, on Sunday, Sept. 15, at 3 p.m. There will also be a back to school give-away for kids who attend. Bring a lawn chair! The church is located at 128 W. Howard St., Bellefonte.
Blueberry Festival
WILLIAMSPORT -- Blueberries, fun and fellowship will abound when the congregation of St. Luke Lutheran Church, 1400 Market St., Williamsport, sponsors a Blueberry Festival with aid from Scout Troop 12 and Cub Scout Pack 12 with proceeds to support Sojourner Truth Ministries.
The festival is from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15, under a tent on the front lawn of the church and inside its community room in Bell Hall. The event is at no cost to the public, although donations will be accepted for Sojourner Truth, a non-profit, Christian ministry operating at 501 High St., that provides services for homelessness and hunger prevention.
Second Monday Dinner
RENOVO -- The First Renovo Second Monday Dinner will be moved to Sept. 16. Spaghetti and meatballs with Italian bread and dessert will be served. Call to pre-order from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 570-923-1313 for pick up after 4 p.m. Pre-orders are not necessary. Come get your dinner from 4-6 p.m.
Soup Sale
HOWARD -- Howard United Methodist Church will be having their first community soup sale and luncheon of the fall on Sept. 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Howard United Methodist Church, 144 W. Main St., Howard. Eat in or take out. Soups available are vegetable beef, ham and bean, chicken corn and chicken noodle. Quarts for take out should be preordered by the Sunday prior to luncheon by calling Patti at 814-625-2182. Soup comes in freezable containers. Cost is $8 for lunch or quarts of soup. Proceeds from soup sales are designated to local missions in the area. Invite a friend, come for lunch and enjoy a time of good food and fellowship while supporting a worthy cause!
Free Movie
FLEMINGTON -- Join the Hillview Wesleyan Church for a free movie that will be shown on Sept. 21 at 6 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. The movie will be The Chronicles of Narnia - The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Benefit Lunch
McELHATTAN -- McElhattan Pathway to Christ Church is holding a benefit lunch on Saturday, Sept. 21, to raise funds for the family of Keith "Wink" Winkleman. Keith, 53, was killed in an accident while driving a logging truck on July 2. The drive-thru lunch will begin at 11 a.m. and features a platter holding a hot sausage sandwich, macaroni salad, chips and a cookie. You get to provide a donation (suggested $10) for the meal to benefit his family. Come early to get your lunch while supplies last! A Celebration of Keith's Life is being planned for October.
Grief Support
LOCK HAVEN -- Community Grief Support is a new opportunity for men and women to gather and seek help together. The next meeting will be on Sept. 24. The group will meet the second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 6-7 p.m. in the lounge of Covenant United Methodist Church, 44-46 W. Main St., Lock Haven.
The support group is free, confidential and open to anyone. There is no work book to follow and no end date. It is designed to become an established, long-term program.
Sharon Gensib and Pamela Brauchli are the facilitators. They will open each session but the discussion will go where the group takes it.
Food Distribution
HOWARD -- Howard United Methodist Church will have a food distribution on Thursday, Oct. 3, and on Friday, Oct. 18, beginning at 5 p.m. Those needing food aid can line up at 4 p.m., but not before, being careful to not block driveways. Spaghetti dinner
DUNNSTOWN -- Dunnstown United Methodist Church is having a drive thru spaghetti dinner prepared by the Sons and Daughters of Italy on Oct. 9 with pick-up from 4-6 p.m. at the Son's Patio. Tickets are available by calling Carol Ordway at 570-748-9139. The cost is $10 per meal.
'Unsung Hero'
FLEMINGTON -- Hillview Wesleyan will be showing the movie "Unsung Hero" on Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. at the church. This is the story of Christian singer Rebecca St. James. She is the sister of the Christian singing group, For King & Country.
Comedy group
FLEMINGTON -- On Oct. 25, the comedy group, Bean and Bailey, will be live at Flemington First Church of Christ. Crafting group
open to all
LOCK HAVEN -- A new crafting group is open to everyone who wants to share in the fun and maybe gain a new skill. Covenant Crafters meets Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. in Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., and is open to the general public.
Projects will vary.
