Outdoor concert

LOGANTON -- An outdoor concert will be held on Sunday, Sept. 22, at 3 p.m., at Sugar Valley Church of the Brethren, 2305 E. Winter Road, Loganton, featuring The Ally J Band.

Come join members of the church for an afternoon of fellowship and worship through gospel music. Weather permitting, the concert will be held in the grove so bring a lawn chair. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will move indoors. A fellowship meal will follow with a free will offering taken.

Candy & Nuts

BLANCHARD -- Liberty Baptist Missionary Ladies in Blanchard are taking orders for Terri Lynn Nuts and Candy as a fundraiser. Orders must be in before Sept. 24. To see a brochure with prices call Joyce at 570-962-3355. The Ladies would appreciate your order and support of this fundraiser!

Free Movie

FLEMINGTON -- Join the Hillview Wesleyan Church for a free movie that will be shown on Sept. 21 at 6 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. The movie will be The Chronicles of Narnia - The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Bring the whole family to enjoy this free movie at the church, 1200 W. 4th St., Lock Haven.

Benefit Lunch

McELHATTAN -- McElhattan Pathway to Christ Church is holding a benefit lunch on Saturday, Sept. 21, to raise funds for the family of Keith "Wink" Winkleman. Keith, 53, was killed in an accident while driving a logging truck on July 2. The drive-thru lunch will begin at 11 a.m. and features a platter holding a hot sausage sandwich, macaroni salad, chips and a cookie. You get to provide a donation (suggested $10) for the meal to benefit his family. Come early to get your lunch while supplies last! A Celebration of Keith's Life is being planned for October.

Grief Support

LOCK HAVEN -- Community Grief Support is a new opportunity for men and women to gather and seek help together. The next meeting will be on Sept. 24. The group will meet the second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 6-7 p.m. in the lounge of Covenant United Methodist Church, 44-46 W. Main St., Lock Haven.

The support group is free, confidential and open to anyone. There is no work book to follow and no end date. It is designed to become an established, long-term program.

Sharon Gensib and Pamela Brauchli are the facilitators. They will open each session but the discussion will go where the group takes it.

Blessing of Pets

HOWARD -- St. Mark Lutheran Church at 850 Snydertown Road, Howard, will hold a Blessing of Pets and Animals at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3. The service will be held under the church pavilion and will include a moment of remembrance for pets we have lost. The church also will be taking donations that will benefit Centre County PAWS.

Chicken and biscuit dinner

JERSEY SHORE -- Oriole Church, 39 Main Road, Jersey Shore, will hold a chicken and biscuit dinner on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 4 to 7 p.m.

The cost is $6.50 for adults, $4 for children through 12 years and kids under 4 eat for free. Tickets will be available at the door.

Chicken Barbecue

McELHATTAN -- McElhattan Pathway to Christ Church, 502 McElhattan Drive, McElhattan, will be holding a drive-thru chicken barbecue on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 11 a.m. until sold out.

The meal includes barbecue chicken, macaroni salad, baked beans and cake for the cost of a suggested donation of $15.

Spaghetti dinner

DUNNSTOWN -- Dunnstown United Methodist Church is having a drive thru spaghetti dinner prepared by the Sons and Daughters of Italy on Oct. 9 with pick-up from 4-6 p.m. at the Son's Patio. Tickets are available by calling Carol Ordway at 570-748-9139. The cost is $10 per meal.

Pumpkin Patch

McELHATTAN -- McElhattan Pathway to Christ Church, 502 McElhattan Drive, McElhattan, will hold a Pumpkin Patch event on Sunday, Oct. 13, from noon to 3 p.m.

The event will feature a pumpkin patch, pumpkin decorating kits -- while supplies last, free ice cream sundaes, a hayride and fall photographs.

Food Distribution

HOWARD -- Howard United Methodist Church will have a food distribution on Thursday, Oct. 3, and on Friday, Oct. 18, beginning at 5 p.m. Those needing food aid can line up at 4 p.m., but not before, being careful to not block driveways. Call Patty at 814-625-2182 for info on the church's food distribution program.

'Unsung Hero'

FLEMINGTON -- Hillview Wesleyan will be showing the movie "Unsung Hero" on Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. at the church. This is the story of Christian singer Rebecca St. James. She is the sister of the Christian singing group, For King & Country.

Comedy group

FLEMINGTON -- On Oct. 25, the comedy group, Bean and Bailey, will be live at Flemington First Church of Christ. Get tickets now by going to ffcoc.net or by calling the church office at 570-726-8009 for more information. The cost is $25 general admission and $40 for a VIP package which includes a meal and meet and greet.

Crafting group open to all

LOCK HAVEN -- A new crafting group is open to everyone who wants to share in the fun and maybe gain a new skill. Covenant Crafters meets Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. in Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., and is open to the general public.

Projects will vary.
