Liberty Quartet in Concert
BEECH CREEK -- Beech Creek Wesleyan Church would like to extend an invitation to an upcoming free concert. The concert will feature Liberty Quartet at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28.
While featuring everything from high-energy performances to moments of contemplation, Liberty always leads the congregation in an incredible concert of worship. Their ministry bridges all generations, bringing enjoyment to traditional and contemporary venues. A love offering will be collected to show our support and appreciation for their ministry.
Members hope to provide a nice audience for Liberty Quartet and hope to see you there. Beech Creek Wesleyan Church is located at 217 Main St., Beech Creek.
5th Sunday Service
FLEMINGTON -- Flemington United Methodist Church will host their sister churches, Lamar and Mill Hall, for a 5th Sunday Service on Sept. 29 at 10:30 a.m. Trinity will provide special music. A fellowship lunch will follow the service. All are welcome to attend.
St. John School Oktoberfest
STATE COLLEGE -- St. John Catholic School in Bellefonte will hold its first Oktoberfest Fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Our Lady of Victory Gymnasium, 800 Westerly Parkway, State College, Pa. This festive event will feature fun, food and the music of The Little German Band, so get your polka outfit ready to go!
You get live entertainment and a meal for only $40 per person. Included with your event ticket is one drink, one neal and one dessert as well as a Collector Mug and a door prize ticket. There will be lots of authentic food and drink to buy if you work up an appetite or thirst later in the event. You must be 21 or over to attend.

Annual Knit N' Run
MILL HALL -- Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church's Prayer Shawl Ministry (PSM) will meet at the church at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 2, for lunch and to view the creative items that are brought in each month, as well as to get ready for the annual Knit N' Run that has been set for Saturday, Oct. 5.
This year marks the 13th year the church partnered with the Susquehanna Big Twins Cycle Club to deliver the items made by the PSM needleworkers.
The public is invited to come to the church to view all of the items that have been made for this outreach ministry. The hand-made items are given to the elderly in nursing homes and personal care homes and to people, both young and old, that are in area hospitals.
Prayer Shawl Ministry's Pastor Susan Champion invites the community to come to the Oct. 2 meeting to see all the wonderful projects that the needleworkers have created. PSM begins at noon with a light lunch provided.
The public is also invited to come on Saturday, Oct. 5, when the Big Twins bikers will come to the church at 10 a.m.
Come join in fellowship with the needleworkers and bikers and enjoy light refreshments. The bikers would love to have folks join them when they set off to make their deliveries on Saturday. For questions, call 570-726-4112 and leave a message if need be.

Clothing Bank
BELLEFONTE -- The Light of the World Clothing Bank at St. John's United Church of Christ, 145 W. Linn St., Bellefonte, will be open on Friday, Oct. 4, from 2:30-5 p.m. There will not be a Saturday clothing bank this month.
Clothing for everyone from babies to adults is available along with bedding, towels, shoes, purses, accessories and more. Everything is free!

Food Distribution
HOWARD -- Howard United Methodist Church will have a food distribution on Thursday, Oct. 3, and on Friday, Oct. 18, beginning at 5 p.m. Those needing food aid can line up at 4 p.m., but not before, being careful to not block driveways. Call Patty at 814-625-2182 for info on the church's food distribution program.
Blessing of Pets
HOWARD -- St. Mark Lutheran Church at 850 Snydertown Road, Howard, will hold a Blessing of Pets and Animals at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3. The service will be held under the church pavilion and will include a moment of remembrance for pets we have lost. The church also will be taking donations that will benefit Centre County PAWS.
Chicken and biscuit dinner
JERSEY SHORE -- Oriole Church, 39 Main Road, Jersey Shore, will hold a chicken and biscuit dinner on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 4 to 7 p.m.
The cost is $6.50 for adults, $4 for children through 12 years and kids under 4 eat for free. Tickets will be available at the door.
Annual Fall Festival
MILL HALL -- Living Faith Ministries, located at 7175 Nittany Valley Drive in Mill Hall, will be having their Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. There will be games and prizes for the children as well as door prizes for kids and adults. Free soup and hotdogs will be available while supplies last. In case of rain, it will be held inside the church.
Chicken Barbecue
McELHATTAN -- McElhattan Pathway to Christ Church, 502 McElhattan Drive, McElhattan, will be holding a drive-thru chicken barbecue on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 11 a.m. until sold out.
The meal includes barbecue chicken, macaroni salad, baked beans and cake for the cost of a suggested donation of $15.
Outdoor Life speaker
WINGATE -- Wingate Faith Church will host special guest, Derek Horner, on Sunday, Oct. 6. Derek grew up in Centre County and is a PSU graduate who now works for the Outdoor Life magazine. The public is invited to a meet and greet from 6-7 p.m., before Derek gives his presentation at 7 p.m., telling of how God has blessed his life while he hunts and fishes and writes about those experiences for the magazine. Everyone is welcome! The church is located at 111 Runville Road, Bellefonte, behind the Sheetz store in Wingate.
Grief Support
LOCK HAVEN -- Community Grief Support is a new opportunity for men and women to gather and seek help together. The next meeting will be on Oct. 8. The group will meet the second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 6-7 p.m. in the lounge of Covenant United Methodist Church, 44-46 W. Main St., Lock Haven.
The support group is free, confidential and open to anyone. There is no work book to follow and no end date. It is designed to become an established, long-term program.
Sharon Gensib and Pamela Brauchli are the facilitators. They will open each session but the discussion will go where the group takes it.
Spaghetti dinner
DUNNSTOWN -- Dunnstown United Methodist Church is having a drive thru spaghetti dinner prepared by the Sons and Daughters of Italy on Oct. 9 with pick-up from 4-6 p.m. at the Son's Patio. Tickets are available by calling Carol Ordway at 570-748-9139. The cost is $10 per meal.
Soup Sale
Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church has their annual vegetable soup sale coming up on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 9 a.m. until noon, at the church at 109 Main St. in Mill Hall. The beef vegetable soup is $7 a quart. There will also be a vegetable soup with no meat offered. For call in and pre-orders, please call the church at 570-726-4112 and leave a message that includes your name, phone # and how many quarts you would like. Walk-in orders will be accommodated until sold out. Proceeds from this soup sale will help to offset the cost of the wintertime heating bill at the church.
Pumpkin Patch
McELHATTAN -- McElhattan Pathway to Christ Church, 502 McElhattan Drive, McElhattan, will hold a Pumpkin Patch event on Sunday, Oct. 13, from noon to 3 p.m.
The event will feature a pumpkin patch, pumpkin decorating kits -- while supplies last, free ice cream sundaes, a hayride and fall photographs. Bring your cameras along!
