Annual Knit N' Run
MILL HALL -- Pastor Susan Champion of the Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church in Mill Hall invites the community to the church on Saturday morning, Oct. 5, at 10 a.m. to observe the Prayer Shawl Ministry (PSM) needleworkers and the bikers of the Susquehanna Big Twins Cycle Club when they come together for a time of fellowship and refreshments before the bikers will be loading up the numerous items made by the needleworkers and begin delivering those items in their 13th annual Knit N' Run to many personal care homes, nursing homes and hospitals in the area.
The bikers would also love to have folks join them (either ride cycles with them or drive your own vehicle) when they set off to make their deliveries on Saturday. For questions, call 570-726-4112 and leave a message if need be. The church is located at 109 Main St., Mill Hall. Everyone is welcome!
Chicken and biscuit dinner
JERSEY SHORE -- Oriole Church, 39 Main Road, Jersey Shore, will hold a chicken and biscuit dinner on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 4 to 7 p.m. The cost is $6.50 for adults, $4 for children through 12 years and kids under 4 eat for free. Tickets will be available at the door.
Chicken Barbecue
McELHATTAN -- McElhattan Pathway to Christ Church, 502 McElhattan Drive, McElhattan, will be holding a drive-thru chicken barbecue on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 11 a.m. until sold out.
The meal includes barbecue chicken, macaroni salad, baked beans and cake for the cost of a suggested donation of $15.
Annual Fall Festival
MILL HALL -- Living Faith Ministries, located at 7175 Nittany Valley Drive in Mill Hall, will be having their Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. There will be games and prizes for the children as well as door prizes for kids and adults. Free soup and hotdogs will be available while supplies last. In case of rain, it will be held inside the church.

LOCK HAVEN -- Karla Sunderlin will be the guest speaker at Big Woods Bible Church on Sunday morning, Oct. 6, beginning at 9 a.m. Karla will share her experience in handing out Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes to children in Kenya, Africa. Come see firsthand the impact that packing a shoebox for a child can mean! Information will also be available at the church on how you can pack a shoebox for Operation Christmas Child this year.
Annual St. Paul's EUB
Homecoming in Sugar Valley
SUGAR VALLEY -- Homecoming in the Valley! All are welcome to attend the annual Homecoming service at the former St. Paul's EUB Church in Sugar Valley (Logan Mills). Guest Speaker this year will be Pastor Fred Bennet from Howard, with special music provided by the group "Fishers of Men". The offerings received from the service are used for the upkeep and maintenance of the Historical St. Paul's Church and Cemetery. Join us for a time of worship and fellowship at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6.
Hymn Sing
MACKEYVILLE -- Have a fun night at the Mackeyville United Methodist Church on Sunday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m., for a good old fashioned Hymn Sing. Come and hear some special music, clap your hands along with the hymns we all know and love and have a cookie and a drink afterwards. Hope to see you there!
Outdoor Life speaker
WINGATE -- Wingate Faith Church will host a special guest, Derek Horner, on Sunday, Oct. 6. Derek grew up in Centre County and is a PSU graduate who now works for the Outdoor Life magazine. The public is invited to a meet and greet from 6-7 p.m., before Derek gives his presentation at 7 p.m., telling of how God has blessed his life while he hunts and fishes and writes about those experiences for the magazine. Everyone is welcome! The church is located at 111 Runville Road, Bellefonte, behind the Sheetz store in Wingate.
Grief Support
LOCK HAVEN -- Community Grief Support is a new opportunity for men and women to gather and seek help together. The next meeting will be on Oct. 8. The group will meet the second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 6-7 p.m. in the lounge of Covenant United Methodist Church, 44-46 W. Main St., Lock Haven.
The support group is free, confidential and open to anyone. There is no work book to follow and no end date. It is designed to become an established, long-term program.
Sharon Gensib and Pamela Brauchli are the facilitators. They will open each session but the discussion will go where the group takes it.
Spaghetti dinner
DUNNSTOWN -- Dunnstown United Methodist Church is having a drive thru spaghetti dinner prepared by the Sons and Daughters of Italy on Oct. 9 with pick-up from 4-6 p.m. at the Son's Patio. Tickets are available by calling Carol Ordway at 570-748-9139. The cost is $10 per meal.
Soup Sale
Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church has their annual vegetable soup sale coming up on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 9 a.m. until noon, at the church at 109 Main St. in Mill Hall. The beef vegetable soup is $7 a quart. There will also be a vegetable soup with no meat offered. For call in and pre-orders, please call the church at 570-726-4112 and leave a message that includes your name, phone # and how many quarts you would like. Walk-in orders will be accommodated until sold out. Proceeds from this soup sale will help to offset the cost of the wintertime heating bill at the church.
St. John's Oktoberfest
STATE COLLEGE -- Tickets are required for the St. John Catholic School's first Oktoberfest Fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Our Lady of Victory Gymnasium, 800 Westerly Parkway, State College, Pa. This festive event will feature fun, food and the music of The Little German Band, so get your polka outfit ready to go! Must be 21 to attend.
