Soup Sale

MILL HALL -- Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church has their annual vegetable soup sale coming up on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 9 a.m. until noon, at the church at 109 Main St. in Mill Hall. The beef vegetable soup is $7 a quart. There will also be a vegetable soup with no meat offered. For call in and pre-orders, please call the church at 570-726-4112 and leave a message that includes your name, phone number and how many quarts you would like. Walk-in orders will be accommodated until sold out. Proceeds from this soup sale will help to offset the cost of the wintertime heating bill at the church.

OCC Leader Workshop

MILL HALL -- A project leader workshop for Operation Christmas Child will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 9-11 a.m., at Cedar Heights Brethren in Christ Church, 37 Cedar Heights, Mill Hall. Volunteers and attendees are encouraged to attend this workshop. The attendees will receive 50 free shoeboxes. While attending the workshop you'll hear from Karla Sunderlin about her trip to Kenya, Africa, to hand out shoeboxes to children there. The workshop will help you learn more about Operation Christmas Child's mission through Samaritan's Purse. You'll also get new ideas for packing shoeboxes while interacting with others involved in the Operation Christmas Child shoebox collections. For more info email Crystal at grammycrystal@yahoo.com.

St. John's Oktoberfest

STATE COLLEGE -- Tickets are required for the St. John Catholic School's first Oktoberfest Fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Our Lady of Victory Gymnasium, 800 Westerly Parkway, State College, Pa. This festive event will feature fun, food and the music of The Little German Band, so get your polka outfit ready to go! Must be 21 to attend. Trombone Concert

HOWARD -- The Penn State Trombones will visit Howard United Methodist Church to present a concert on Sunday, Oct. 20. The public is invited and encouraged to drop a few dollars in their case to help with their expenses. The morning service begins at 9 a.m. All are welcome!

Pumpkin Patch

McELHATTAN -- McElhattan Pathway to Christ Church, 502 McElhattan Drive, McElhattan, will hold a Pumpkin Patch event on Sunday, Oct. 13, from noon to 3 p.m.

The event will feature a pumpkin patch, pumpkin decorating kits -- while supplies last, free ice cream sundaes, a hayride and fall photographs. Bring your cameras along!

Special music

LAMAR - Lamar United Methodist Church will have special music on Sunday, Oct. 13, at 9:45 a.m. Trinity, a local group, will be providing the special music. Everyone is invited to the concert.

The Craguns in concert

BEECH CREEK -- The Craguns will be in concert at Beech Creek Wesleyan Church on Oct. 13, at 6 p.m. The concert is free, but a love offering will be taken during the concert.

The Craguns are a dynamic, family group, composed of husband and wife, Jordan and Elena Cragun, Ray Cragun (Jordan's father) and Savannah Cragun (Jordan's sister). They are especially recognized by their warm, smooth harmony and strong spiritual emphasis.

At a Craguns' concert you can expect to laugh, be challenged and will leave encouraged!

Pot Pie Sale

WINGATE -- Wingate Faith Church is holding a ham and chicken pot pie sale on Monday, Oct. 14, at 4 p.m. Place your pre-orders by calling Janette at 814-883-0893. Pickup of the orders and walk-in sales begin at 4 p.m. at the church. The cost for quarts of pot pie in freezable containers with homemade bread is now $9. The church is located at 111 Runville Road, Bellefonte, behind the Sheetz Store in Wingate.

The last pot pie sale of the fall will be held on Monday, Nov. 11.

Candy Caravan

FLEMINGTON -- Flemington First Church of Christ will host a Candy Caravan on Thursday, Oct. 17, from 5-8 p.m. This is a family friendly event, and it is free to attend. There will be food trucks, crafts for kids and, of course, FREE candy!

Soup Sale and Luncheon

HOWARD -- Howard United Methodist Church, 144 W. Main St., Howard, will sponsor a community soup sale on Thursday, Oct. 17, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Eat in or take out. Soups available are vegetable beef, ham and bean, chicken corn and chicken noodle.

Eat-in dining will include a bowl of soup, pie, and a roll with butter for $8. Quarts for take out should be preordered by the Oct. 13. Contact Patti 814-625-2182 for preorders or questions. Soup comes in freezable containers. Cost is $8 for take-out quarts of soup. Proceeds from soup sales are designated to local missions in the area. Invite a friend, come for lunch and enjoy a time of good food and fellowship while supporting a worthy cause!

Food Distribution

HOWARD -- Howard United Methodist Church will have a food distribution on Friday, Oct. 18, beginning at 5 p.m. Those needing food aid can line up at 4 p.m., but not before, being careful to not block driveways. Call Patty at 814-625-2182 for info on the church's food distribution program.

Books and More

SNYDERTOWN -- St. Mark Lutheran Church, Snydertown Road, rural Howard, is having a free book fair and costless clothing closet on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lots of books, puzzles, games, cd's and dvd's will be given away along with new and gently used clothing.

Food and baked goods will be available for sale. Those attending are asked to bring a non-perishable food item(s) or give a monetary donation to the church's food pantry to help feed the hungry in the area. Call 814-383-4882 for more info.

'Unsung Hero'

FLEMINGTON -- Hillview Wesleyan will be showing the movie "Unsung Hero" on Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. at the church. This is the story of Christian singer Rebecca St. James. She is the sister of the Christian singing group, For King & Country.

Turkey dinner

AVIS -- The Avis United Methodist Church will be hosting a turkey dinner at 215 Prospect Ave, Avis, on Oct. 19 from 4-6 p.m.

Grief Support

LOCK HAVEN -- Community Grief Support is a new opportunity for men and women to gather and seek help together. The next meeting will be on Oct. 22. The group will meet the second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 6-7 p.m. in the lounge of Covenant United Methodist Church, 44-46 W. Main St., Lock Haven.

The support group is free, confidential and open to anyone. There is no work book to follow and no end date. It is designed to become an established, long-term program.

Sharon Gensib and Pamela Brauchli are the facilitators. They will open each session but the discussion will go where the group takes it.

Comedy group

FLEMINGTON -- On Oct. 25, the comedy group, Bean and Bailey, will be live at Flemington First Church of Christ. The cost is $25 general admission and $40 for a VIP package which includes a meal and meet and greet.

Fall Festival

LOCK HAVEN -- Big Woods Bible Church will hold a Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 26, from noon to 3 p.m. at the church located at 241 S. Hanna St., Lock Haven. There will be food, inflatables, games and more to enjoy, along with a Truck or Treat for the children!

Italian Dinner

YARNELL -- Yarnell Church is having an Italian Dinner on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 4-6 p.m., at the Yarnell Community Center. The meal will include spaghetti Alfredo, garlic bread, salad and dessert for a donation of your choice (suggested $10 or more). Trunk or Treat

MILL HALL -- New Hope Fellowship Church will have a Trunk or Treat on Oct. 31 from 6-8 p.m.

In addition to candy and treats there will also be hot chocolate and the first 50 children will receive a free meal coupon to the Texas Roadhouse. The church is located along Route 64 at 6436 Nittany Valley Drive, Mill Hall.

Holly Mart Bazaar

The Holy Spirit Parish Holly Mart Bazaar will be held on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on Sunday, Nov. 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the spacious handicapped accessible Lock Haven Catholic School gym. Attractions include theme baskets, a silent auction, new to you booth, crafts for kids, baked goods and delicious foods, along with homemade soups to eat in or take out and much more. Santa will be making an appearance on Sunday during the Holly Mart Bazaar. Fun for all, come support this endeavor!
