Helping Hands

McELHATTAN — The Pathway to Christ Church is excited and proud to announce the onset of another great project as they take on assisting the Evangelical Lutheran Church with their “Helping Hands” mission.

Congregation members will be collecting items such as toilet paper, paper towels, toothpaste, cleaning products, laundry detergent, dental care, trash bags, hair care items, body and hand soap, dish detergent and more.

The collections will end in June and will be delivered to the Evangelical Lutheran Church. If someone is unable to go out to shop for items to donate, the church will gladly accept monetary donations to do the shopping for you.

Youth Choir Concert

HOWARD — On May 11, the Mennonite Youth Choir will be singing at Lakeside Mennonite Church at 6:30 p.m. and then having a reception in the Howard United Methodist Church fellowship hall afterwards. The public is invited to the concert and afterward reception. Lakeside Mennonite Church is located on West Main Street in Howard, just two doors down from the United Methodist Church. Parking is available in the parking lot across from the funeral home and United Methodist Church.

Hot dog Sale Fundraiser

WOOLRICH — Woolrich Community Church will hold a hot dog sale fundraiser from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, at 525 Park Avenue in Woolrich during the Woolrich Community Yard Sales. The proceeds collected will be given to the family of Skye Breon, a local young girl battling cancer.

Memorial Service

HOWARD — Memorial services will be held at the Fairview Cemetery on Sunday, May 18, beginning at 2 p.m. Pastor Dave Etters will be the speaker for the memorial service.

Fairview Church (and the adjoining cemetery) is located at the intersection of Fairview Road, Bullit Run Road and Curtin Hollow in Boggs Township, rural Howard.

Bible Study

LOCK HAVEN — God’s Eternal Life Church at 30 Woodward Ave., Lock Haven, is holding weekly Bible studies each Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The topic will be Thru the Bible Word for Word. Please feel free to join. Church services are held on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. All are welcome. Pastor Dean Williams can be reached at 570-748-3700.

Hat show

McELHATTAN — Pathway to Christ Church is McElhattan will be having a Hat Show on Saturday, May 10, at 2 p.m., at the church. Join Linda Danis as she presents “The Great Cover Up HAT Show and Tea.” Men and women are invited to wear your favorite hat and join the fun! Snacks will be provided.

Turkey Supper

SUGAR VALLEY — Sugar Valley Church of the Brethren will hold a Take-out Only Turkey Supper on May 17 from 4-6 p.m., or until sold out. The meal will feature roasted turkey, filling, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, corn, cranberry sauce, rolls and homemade desserts. The cost will be a donation of your choosing. The proceeds will benefit Missions. To reserve take-out meals or for more info call Kim at 570-725-3767. (Originally this meal was set for May 3, but because of unfortunate circumstances, the meal has been rescheduled and will now be held on May 17. Please mark your calendar of the date change.)

Grief Support

LOCK HAVEN — Community Grief Support is a new opportunity for men and women to gather and seek help together. The next meeting will be on May 13. The group will meet the second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 6-7 p.m. in the lounge of Covenant United Methodist Church, 44-46 W. Main St., Lock Haven.

The support group is free, confidential and open to anyone. There is no work book to follow and no end date. It is designed to become an established, long-term program.

Sharon Gensib and Pamela Brauchli are the facilitators. They will open each session but the discussion will go where the group takes it.
