LOCK HAVEN — If you’ll be out of town this Christmas or just want to celebrate the holiday with friends and neighbors, you won’t want to miss Christmas in the Park this Sunday, Dec. 7, at 4:30 p.m., in Triangle Park, Lock Haven.
Covenant United Methodist Church offers a reading of the Christmas Story with chances to sing a few verses of favorite carols.
The service includes a short devotional and if children attend, a Children’s Time.
“At the end we light candles as we would on Christmas Eve and sing ‘Joy to the World'”, Pastor Justin Frear said. “There are real candles and glow sticks for small children.”
After the service everyone is invited to the church just up the street for hot chocolate and cookies.
“We just want to share the light of Christ out in the community,” the pastor said.
Covenant United Methodist, at 44 W. Main St., also offers other events this season.
On Saturday, Dec. 13, Creative Hearts Crafts invites everyone to join in from 6 to 8 p.m. The group also welcomes donations of old Christmas cards for a craft.
Sunday, Dec. 14 is the Covenant Church Choir’s concert at 3 p.m.
The regular Sunday services, at 8:45 a.m., are centering on the theme “Celebrating Advent”.
The Christmas Eve candlelight service will be held at the family-friendly time of 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24.
Everyone is welcome to the services and events. Child care during services is available if needed. If more information is needed, please email jfrear@susumc.org or phone 570-748-6481.
