MILL HALL -- On Sunday morning, Nov. 9, Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church honored the veterans in their congregation by presenting each with a handmade item.

"Today and every day, we honor the selfless bravery and sacrifices of our veterans," said Pastor Susan Champion, before calling each of the veterans to the front of the church sanctuary.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we thank you for your dedication, service and protection of our freedom. Your courage and patriotism inspire us all. In recognition of your service to our country, please accept these hand made items from our Prayer Shawl Ministry as a symbol of our deepest gratitude," Champion said.

A yellow, knitted prayer shawl was presented to Carol Frier, while each of the men received a knotted lap quilt or an afghan made of patriotic colors.

Pastor Champion continued by saying, "As you wrap these items around you, please know that they were made with prayers woven into each stitch. May you personally feel God's presence when using your gift. Your courage and dedication to our country has made a lasting impact on all of us. We are honored to recognize your service."
